A previous review nearly stopped me booking but what they wrote is unrecognisable in this hotel. I stayed in a room in the second courtyard, I took my bags in through the locked gat off the outside lane but this was for convenience. There is a stayer that takes you into the main hotel, for the rest of your stay... more

I'm not entirely sure how other reviewers can give this hotel such a high rating. I've backpacked all around the world and am no snob, but Dar Halabia was awful. This hotel was advertised as a "hotel de charme", however our experience proved this was not the case. After reading the reviews on here I was expecting a traditional-type room,... more

Beautiful hotel - quite a hidden gem. The layout is a traditional Arab one with rooms surrounding a central courtyard. We particularly liked the upstairs rooms which were quiet with plenty of space to enjoy sitting out in the sun. Breakfast was also served upstairs and was excellent. The staff are friendly and are knowledgeable about trips. It's also interesting... more

This hotel is very well located, since it is close to the Aleppo's souq, the Great Mosque, and the Citadel. It is clean and decorated with arabic carpets, paintings and lamps. Breakfast is fine, with typical Syrian food. Some rooms are small and the service could be improved, but it is a nice hotel. more

While I was not that impressed with Aleppo, the Dar Halabia was the perfect place to stay. I found our room and bathroom to be clean and well kept. The decor of the entire place really is charming. It is right in the souq and very quiet. There are children and locals that live around the hotel and they always... more

We stayed at the Dar Halabia for 3 nights in May and have no complaints. The rug on the floor may have been a bit dusty but bathroom & bed were both clean. Aircon didn't work, but I prefer sleeping with the window open anyway. You can hear the call to prayer but that can be said of most places... more

We stayed at Dar Halabia in early May 2009. The hotel is in a converted house within the Aleppo souk, and its rooms surround a charming courtyard. The room we were given was a bit grimy; one of the two hanging carpets had not been cleaned in months. Apparently, there had been some rain the previous week, and so an... more

Charming place just beside the Souq. Attracts interesting and adventurous people. Good offer of excursions within Syria. Very friendly and helpful staff. Value for money. We paid 73 US$ for three. On the downside: Breakfast is boring. Besides that, one cannot expect much more than coffee and tea. Cleanliness is of "Syrian standards". Rooms can differ a lot: Not all... more

Dar Halabia sells itself as a hotel de charme, but there's nothing charming in a dirty bathroom and old bedsheets. The location is unbeatable in Aleppo, and the building is really beautiful, but the manager does not seem to know how to make the most of it. We stayed for two nights in two different rooms, since they didn't have... more

An authentic hotel in the middle of the old city. It's very near to the Aleppo Castle and also very near to the bazaar. more
