We arrived at Thongbay Guesthouse around 6 am after a night on the 'sleeping' bus from Vientiane. What follows might sound like laid on a little thick, yet it's just a description of what things were like. Now, I still remember we were seriously stressed. Until we entered the place or rather the garden. Only Vanh was standing at the... More

Our Holidays in the Thongbay Guesthouse were incredible. We stayed there for 3 Weeks. Every only day was amazing! If you are looking for a Place of relaxation and calmness....this is it! We had a bungalow facing the river. If you can book a river bungalow...DO IT. The view on the Nam Khan river was very beautiful, especially when the... More

You feel like home even though you are miles far away. Smiling staff always there to help you, in order to make wonderful your journey. The place is like a big garden, really cured in every detail, with nice bungalows. Tried both river view and garden view: the latter is ok, comfortable and nice, but the former is superb with... Just outside city centre but regular shuttles and/or cheap tuktuks made this fine. Was really beautiful and relaxing - with tons of character - I wish we had stayed longer. Breakfast served on your own balcony every morning was just bliss. This is one of the more expensive places I have booked in South East Asia but it seemed that... More

Thongbay is one of the best places we have stayed. The rooms are comfortable, clean and peaceful. The whole complex has an air of peace and tranquility. The bungalows are built in the traditional Laos style and surround a beautiful garden or perched on the edge of the river. A fantastic breakfast of our choice was brought to our room... More

This little hide-away just outside the city centre is a lovely find. The river front bandas are wonderful for sunset and have the necessary privacy. Bikes are available for free and the staff is very helpful. I had a number of meals there as well and they were all delicious. I would stay here again! Accommodation best suited for couples... More

The Thongbay guesthouse provides a fantastic stay in luang prabang. For those who love a silent and green ambience in a beautiful bungalow this is the perfect place. The cheerful sentiment and the service at the resort is amazing. We were very well received with a family atmosphere. The breakfast and the food in general is delicious even if you... More

Thongbay was our first real stopover in Laos. I booked here because I loved the photos of the bathroom. It is in a beautiful setting, gorgeous gardens and lovely outlook over the river. Staff are exceptionally friendly and helpful, as are the owners. Loved the breakfast set-up on our balcony each morning, served promptly at our requested times. Cleanliness was... More

This nice place is an excellent choice, the relaxing garden and views, the fabulous breakfast, the wonderful decoration of the rooms, the air conditioning pick-up van, and the friendly staff, so helpful and nice! On our last day, as our bus was leaving late evening, we had left the luggage in the hotel and we were even offered the possibility... More

This is hospitality as it should be. Comfortabl, river facing bungalows that offer loads of privacy. This place is tranquil and definitely great for relaxing. Yes, it is a bit outside the city centre, but that is not a problem at all as there's a free shuttle at set times that will take you into town and back. Thongbay also... More
