Having stayed at the Apsara June 18th-21st, i have to say i really enjoyed my stay. On arrival i was upgraded to an upstairs room having originally booked a downstairs room. The room itself was basic and clean, with a small balcony, a fridge, air-con, the all important safe, and probably the most comfortable bed i had during my month... more

We stayed at the Apsara two nights. It is a clean, comfortable, well-run establishment at the "edge" of L.P.'s "heart" (and, as such, was quiet and a delightful change from Hanoi). Our lack of enthusiasm in this review comes from the discrepancy between what we were expecting and what we got. The Apsara has a variety of room categories, the... more

I stayed at the Apsara for 4 days nearly exactly 2 years ago and was totally wowed by the experience. My room (upstairs standard) was big, spotless, comfortable, cool furnishing, nice little touches like full size soaps. The service was friendly and food was fantastic. This time, I was passing through Luang Prabang with some colleagues and I recommended the... more

In Luang Prabang, we stayed two nights at Le Bel Air (great) and two nights at Apsara (hopeless). I just don't understand where the "hip" comes in. Our room was very ordinary. The nearest thing to "hip" was the badly designed bedside clock. There was no tea or coffee making facility (which every other hotel on our trip had). When... more

I still don't understand why Luang Prabang is sooo expensive. We spent 5 nights at The Apsara. The room was big and nice and the breakfast was included. But for that little town, 130$ a night is really expensive. We have our part of responsability ...nobody was forcing us to stay there but...We taught that for that prince in Laos... more

After reading the reviews here and the recommendation in HIP HOTELS Asia, I was quite disappointed of the Apsara. Staff appeared not really interested in a special “welcome” and also the room in the extension was quite disappointing. Dark, not well cleaned and lots of mosquitos...hotel itself has a nice atmosphere, breakfast is served à la carte (not many options).... more

One night was one night too many in this hotel. After a long days travel we arrived and were led 50 yards up the road to an extension to the hotel. On arrival at the room we were greeted by the stench from an outflow from a noodle factory next door. The light was not working over the steps and it... more

We stayed in Luang Prabang for 4 days at the Apsara and found it was the perfect location, just off the main street, so it is a little quieter and you have a view if you are on the front. The rooms are spacious and have a Laotian feel with lots of dark wood (teak?) and a little balcony upstairs.... more

We stayed in three different hotels in Luang Praband (it's so small that each hotel was pretty much a hop and a skip away) - La Residence Phou Vao, Apsara and Lotus Villa. We thought the Apsara was perfectly fine and comfortable, though we had perhaps expected more design-wise (the book "Hip Hotels: Asia" had raved about it). But the... more

nice hotel that we would reccomend. Good staff and attention to detail. As mentioned by a previous reviewer the laundry was nice, and we also thought the bathroom good- we did get fleeced by a taxi from there- but not one the hotel orgainised, best to go with someone they trust. more
