We arrived in Luang Prabang without hotel reservations and after visiting various hotels in the center of the city, settled on Villa Santi for our first night. Room was $100 US and it was located off the side street from the main hotel, which wasn't a big idea. The hotel is centrally located to restaurants and sights. Overall, the hotel... more

After reading several comments here about missed bookings, we were a bit nervous when our requests for e-mail confirmation went unanswered. Thankfully, our booking was intact when we arrived. The hotel, however, looks like it's seen better days. The chief selling points are the atmospheric old-style decor and outstanding restaurant, with great balcony view of the street. But the rooms... more

An awful experience. Villa Santi is dirty, in dire need of refurbishment and is getting by on dillusional reviews in popular guidebooks and on websites. (which is why how we heard about it) Believe me this place is not worth anywhere near the money this place charges. We booked online only to recieve email notification two days before our (two... more

On a recernt visit to Luang Prabang after two confirmations I arrived in Luang Prabang after a two day trip down the Mekong only to find my booking not available - no reason given.I could however be accommodated at the Spa Resort. This appears to be a common thread with this average Hotel. The Resort Spa was well out of... more

First, the location is perfect and if you get a room in the garden building it is as quiet as can be. However, the bathrooms are dark, dank, and awful. The rooms look like something from the 1940's, but not in a good way. The staff is fine and friendly and the restaurant is passable--although can't touch the 3 Nagas... more

OK, we really wanted to like this hotel after the very nice pictures and publicity but I am sorry to say that we found it disappointing. I think it must have been the only place in town for a long time. Standards are those of a communist country (Laos’s hotel standards are much lower than in neighbouring Cambodia, Vietnam or... more

The rooms are adequate. There is a little language barrier. The electricity in our room went off before we were ready for bed. I went to notify someone at the front desk. The young man did not know how to fix it and said that we would have to wait until morning for a maintenance man. We were unable to... more

We moved to this hotel after being dissatisfied with the Villa Santi Resort and Spa, its sister hotel, which is about 6-7 miles away. We had a two room suite, which was in the newer part of the Hotel, which is about a 1/2 block down the road from the main part of the Hotel. Initially we were dissapointed about... more

I really loved this hotel. The staff were excellent..more like friends. The dining was to die for and again staff were very friendly, helpful and always ready to assist with any need. The rooms echo the opulence of Lao Royal days and what I found the most delightful was the Wat bells in the morning and the daily alms giving along... more

everything in luang prabang is 'small', therefore a small hotel like villa santi (the one in the center of town, not the villa santi 'resort') perfectly represents the city. the hotel main building is a colonial one-storey villa of a former royal princess, confiscated by the communists after 1975 then given back to the family in the 1990's. the small... more
