We are on our bicycles travelling through Southeast Asia for 3 months and came upon this hotel yesterday. I can't remember the guys name at the front desk but he couldn't do enough for us and all the other guests. He went out of his way to help even when our friends forgot their ipad at the breakfast table. He... More

The room smelled very bad from the old air conditioner. The staff is never there when you need them and they don't speak English at all. The place is situated far from the center of town and in a location that is dangerous to walk to at night. One woman was robbed right on that street near the guesthouse. The... More

This is truly one of the worst places we have ever stayed. We cut out after 1 night. The bed was sagging in the middle with a terrible mattress. Breakfast was not much better with a staff that spoke zero English. The air conditioner was moldy and smelled awful. The wifi did not work very well either. The location was... More

I stayed here with my husband as part of a larger group of family and friends. As far as location goes, we loved the quiet nature of the area. It is still well within walking distance from the "centre" of luang prabang, and I always felt safe walking too and from the villa, even at night. There are also a... More

Villa Suan Maak is a friendly family managed hotel with a very charming Lao team. Slow down, take your time to understand the culture and people, you will have a wonderful time. The rooms and location are great value for money, especially if you want to stay for a longer time. I personally don´t mind waking up with the roosters,... More

Family owned Guest House. The Guest House is located only 7-10 minutes away from the main road in Luang Prabang. It is build in the 2nd row and you will get your personal wakeup call from the cock in the neighbourhood. The area in front of the villa is perfect for relaxing and chilling. If you are travelling with kids,... More

I stayed in this hotel for 3 nights with a tour group. My room was open directly to the outdoors and right next to reception. This meant that it was quite noisy at times. Every word that was spoken in the reception area could be heard loud and clear in my room. Apart from that, there were a couple of... More

Stayed here for 2 nights. Room was small and close to communal area so could be a bit noisy and removed a bit of the privacy. Bathroom had hot water but was a 'wet' setup with no shower recess meaning the floor gets soaked (common in Asia however). Everything seemed pretty clean and bed was a little worn out with... More

Most of the times there was nobody at the reception. My requests to fix the air conditioning in our room remained unanswered. Besides that was the service not willing to help for example to call a local taxi service. Breakfast was simple but not tasty at all. Above all the "kitchen" appeared unhygienic. My girlfriend had some black hair in... More

Villa suan maak is really quite far from the centre compared to tens of other guesthouses that you could stay in instead. This might be a positive in other cities but LP is not a noisy city anyway and the cockerels at suan maak woke me up every day at 4am - so annoying! I was charged $16 for one... More
