This hotel certainly has world class service. The friendly staff take service with a smile to the next level. They are concerned and give the extra personal touch that all travelers crave. I was unwell during the early part of my trip to Mandalay, and the staff were so thoughtful. Lush gardens, manicured lawns and pools have a almost Balinese... More

Our stay in this hotel was very pleasant, the staff always absolutely helpfull, waiting for us with a cold towel every time we arrived from that exausting bycicle ride around town. The staff was actually one of the high points, always impecably friendly and helpful, in all the small things we needed; The other one was the free wi-fi internet... More

We stayed 3 nights in Mandalay in December. Very very comfortable hotel with a most attentive, gracious staff. We arranged a car/driver transfer from the airport to the hotel. (A not inconsiderable distance from the city I might add). A representative from the hotel, Gloria, met us. She was so kind and gave us a lot of assistance during our... More

Out of all the hotels we stayed in during our 2-week trip to Myanmar, this was the most disappointing one. Although the service is friendly and the rooms clean, the rooms, which do not look out to a balcony, are very dark and musty. Additionally the pool is small and is right next to a rather busy street and the... More

If you're passing through Mandalay, do yourself a favor and stay at the Red Canal Hotel. The rooms are not large, but they are beautifully decorated and maintained; as you pass through the reception area, the personnel stand and greet you by name, at the included breakfast, the chef will prepare anything that he is capable serving you. The hotel... More

Excellent hotel within a cultivated location. Rooms are very good. Surrounding is needs getting used if you look with traditional European eyes. What you can see is natural life in Myanmar. Get familiar with it. It is worthwile. Service was outstanding. Rarely we experienced such an amibility. We have been there for two short stopover. After our first stay we... More

Chose this hotel on the strength of reviews. Our stay was enjoyable, our room and surrounding areas were maintained to a high standard. Front of house staff and the greeting staff at the front gate could not have been more obliging . What more could you wish for on a very hot day, than be greeted with a cold towel and... More

A true gem with a small pool permitting you to cool down after a day of sightseeing. Good Indian food and very friendly staff. Small rooms though....

After reading all the glowing reviews on TA we decided to stay at The Hotel by the Red Canal. My reviews is mindful of the general living conditions of Myanmar. If I were reviewing another similarly rated hotel I would have been harsher. We booked a Shan suite and like many other reviews I have to say the room was... More
