4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 19, 2013 NEW

We stayed as a couple 12 nights in Myanmar in 5 star hotels except for 4 star The Red Canal . In all honesty the quality of service and the friendly atmosphere was unrivalled here. We had a Chin suite on the ground floor looking across the garden to the swimming pool. Additionally the room was spotlessly clean ,attractively furnished... More

We stayed here in mid- April .Mandalay was very hot and the Red Canal was always pleasant to return to.It is a compact smallish hotel in a handy location with good rooms and a very obliging staff.Unfortunately the pool was closed for maintenance while we were there which was a disappointment. We also had to move rooms due to renovation during... After the very slow transfer from the airport located in the middle of nowhere to the hotel it was great to be welcomed with a nice cold towel and a welcome drink! The hotel staff always had a smile throughout the stay! The pool was great and had sufficient seating and at sunset there were free cocktails and little nibbles!... More

Charming small hotel in Northern suburbs of Mandalay near the east side of the Palace. Rooms are very comfortable though small. Service is excellent, and the concierge/host Pyae Phyo is great at helping to provide advice on travel plans or getting whatever you need. Breakfast is good, but the real find is the Indian Restaurant on premises which serves delicious... More

We booked the Shan Suite room for a 3-night stay during a tour around Burma in February. We booked directly with the hotel via their website and had a good dialogue in advance of our visit. Unusually we were able to pay in advance via PayPal which is unusual for Burma. We also booked a transfer from the airport with... More

This hotel has a lot of things that are in its favor, such as the style and overall "boutique" experience they are trying to convey. Unfortunately for us, we didn't like the following: - cockroaches: 3 in our room, 1 in the hall within a few hours of our arrival, see picture. Not acceptable when you are charging top dollars.... This is a small hotel with excellent service. The rooms are clean but a bit small.....or perhaps a bit too much furniture. Good breakfast. Unfortunately the water features in the front attract mosquitos.

We stayed for two nights at the Hotel by the Red Canal with another family and had four rooms on the second floor between us. The hotel is beautiful with lots of wooden detail. The rooms are spacious with comfortable beds that can be massive king beds or twin beds - everything was well cleaned and maintained. The highlight of... More

We stayed at the Red Canal half way through a wonderful holiday in Myanmar in February 2013. We found the room to be of an excellent standard with the other facilities provided being very good. Unfortunately we only had two nights so did not get the opportunity to us them to the full. The restaurant, although not serving Burmese food... More

My room was already set and air-conditioned when I arrived the hotel earlier than normal check-in time. Room was spacious and everything was ok but I'd like to have a view to their garden and my request to change the room was easily accepted in just ten minutes. Mr. Pyae Phyo who guided me to the room was very friendly... More
