Having booked trough a reputed agency, Gulliver, we had excelent realtionship quality-price the whole tour, but in Mandalay, at the Emerald Inn. We stayed here one night when we first arrived in Mandalay in September 2008. The hotel is to the west of the palace, several blocks down a street from the action. The area is mostly residential, which also means quiet -- which makes for a good night's sleep! The hotel has a generator so when the city power cuts out... more

Agree very much with RandR's review (and had a remarkably similar experience). My (now) fiancee and I stayed here for five nights over Christmas 05.
