A very pleasant hotels with a lovely view of Mandalay hill; a number of the main sites of Mandalay are within easy reach of the hotel. The staff are very courteous and helpful, I found the reception staff particulalry obliging. I was given directions for a good place to change money; they also allowed a late check out. The grounds... more
A group of three of us who work in Yangon made a quick weekend excursion to Mandalay staying one night at the Resort. The hotel has obviously been refurbished since earlier reviews. The bathroom in my room was a bit small but the rest of the room was spacious and comfortable. The pool and gardens behind the hotel are beautiful,... more
Stayed 2 nights, package deal with Air Mandalay which included 3 other places including good class hotels in Myanmar with flights and transfers for about $400 pp! Incredible bargain! Service was outstanding, room good with fantastic views. Great room service and laundry (no charge!) By tipping generously all staff we were invited to places/restaurants in Mandalay where foreigners are usually... more
The hotel is lovely except for the room decor which if updated would really enhance the quality of one's stay, 80s shag carpet and cheesy apolstery unless you're in a suite. Besides the fact that the hotel tower is a monstruous eye-sore in Mandalay Myanmar (pretend you're in Miami, Myanmar), most of the time you're IN it looking OUT and... more
This ernstwhile Novotel (see the towels at the pool), has seen better times. Stay away from the buffet, unless you are early; the price is ridiculous. The bar is empty because of the band playing at a deafening volume. The rooms are spacious with good views over Mandalay, however, this is a package tour type of hotel, so if that... more
The Mandalay Hill Resort is a multi-storeyed not particularly attractive building at the foot of Mandalay Hill. Cityside rooms have a great view across the Mandalay Palace site. This, according to my Lonely Planet guide, used to be run by Novotel. I had a two-day stay in late January 2007. Check-in procedures were fine and relatively quick. The room is... more
The resort is a wonderful place, and the staff is very attentive. Everything we needed was handled for us. The only drawback is that the hotel is quite a ways from town. more
Remember all of Myanmar is CASH ONLY including hotels!!! For a huge hotel like Mandalay Hills, their prices, what they call "plus plus" added taxes and fees, an average meal is about $30.00 for bread and water, don't go for the buffet $150.00 set back and it is really fly infested in the morning and totally we got Montezuma's revenge... more
Good hotel located at the foot of the Mandalay Hill in the centre(-ish) of the city. This is definitely the best hotel in town (I checked out the competition - the Sedona Hotel - which, although was good, was not as good as the Mandalay Hill resort). Everything is only minutes away by taxi. The hotel itself is located in... more
