A really nice hotel, teak from top to bottom, with most obliging staff, we enjoyed our large room, the nice breakfast, & had the big pool to ourselves on two occasions. The complimentary cocktails were a lovely way to start the evening, in the courtyard bar. While the food was quite nice in the restaurant (my partner loved his beef... More

Don't eat dinner at the restaurant! A lovely hotel with smiling attentive staff in a gorgeous garden setting but the food in the restaurant is dire and overpriced. We ordered a Chinese set menu at 30 dollars a head...an expensive meal by Mynmar standards. This must be the worst Chinese meal we have ever eaten anywhere in the world. Our... More

This hotel has lovely gardens and rooms. The staff were all very friendly but the restaurant service was shocking. Staff stood around while plates piled up. We walked 10 minutes to another restaurant down the road called A Little Bit of Mandalay and enjoyed the meals there. The pool is nice. The gym equipment is in desperate need of a... More

This is one of the best places I have ever stayed and the only real problem was that our group (3 people) only stayed two nights whereas a week would have been much better. When we first arrived it was getting dark so did not really notice the nice driveway entrance with the initial impression of the reception area being... More

We stayed here for four nights and left with mixed feelings. Our room was enormous. I believe it is in a new 2 story wing. The details were missing. Wonderful bathroom but no place to place things. Twin beds but the two big chairs and table with lovely fruit were blocked by one of the beds. The room is so... More

Whilst I didn't rate Myanmar as one of my favourite destinations, I ranked the quality and standard of the hotels we used highly. They are expensive and some only take US$ cash but we were pre warned. The Rupar in Mandalay is low rise, with lovely grounds, beautiful pool etc. The food was ok, and the staff very helpful. The... This hotel is one of the more well appointed places I have stayed. The rooms are huge and feature top notch beds and linens. The staff working here are truly amazing and out of their way to take care of you. The areas it can improve is wifi, the pool, and food quality. The wifi is free but did not... More

Wow so hot 44 degrees - May is just the end of tourist season (too hot) fortunately I visited the excellent pool every day (39 Deg. in pool) huge 50 m2 rooms delightfully furnished thou. dark but cool - all teak walls & ceiling- unique. because we were the only guests there were often 5 staff "hovering" - a bit... Staff is very friendly and the resort is large. Wifi works :-) Spa was empty so my husband could go in straight away for a back massage, which he says was really good. Now for the not so good parts. Insects all over you at dinner so we decamped inside to get away from the bugs. Rooms have no soundproofing... More

We did a private tour of Myanmar this past February . The hotels in Myanmar are expensive compared to other S.E. Asian countries. This was no exception - the restaurant was also expensive , but the food was very good. The staff were all very friendly and helpful (those who could speak a little English) . Lovely gardens , pool... More
