Polar Lodge, Kangerlussuaq The hotel is located only 100 meters from the terminal. The room was small and with common toilet and bathroom. There are not many options in Kangerlussuaq so for one night it is ok to get next days flight, but expensive. It was clean and the reception helpful.

My wife and returned recently from a three-night stay at ”Polar Lodge” in Kangerlussuaq (Søndre Strømfjord) in Western Greenland. It was our third visit to the area (but first stay at Polar Lodge). The purpose was simply to get more of the northern lights. Kangerlussuaq is sitting just north of the Polar Circle about 180 km inland from the sea.... More

Stayed in this hostel as part of a Greenland Travel holiday. The rooms were warm and comfy with twin beds pushed together for a double and a desk. Wifi is expensive at 50 danish kroner for 30 mins and the phone signal was poor. There were 2 showers and loos between 5 or so rooms. These could have been cleaner... More

This just suited our needs. It had comfortable, clean rooms and bathrooms, friendly staff, and the breakfast provided was basic but plenty of it. Supermarket not far away, and you can use the kitchen facilities.

Over all a nice Lodge, Shared Bathrooms but cool place. Continental Breaky in Mornings, Shared the kitchen and dishwasher to be put on last thing at night. Breaky normally about 07:00 onwards. Small Suvenier shop in Lodge also. Wifi, 100Krona for 2 hours. Airport is a stone throw away, along with the local store, and hunting shop. You dont need... More

As others have noted, this is a lodge/hostel/B&B-type of setting, not a real hotel as such. However, we found it to be excellent in terms of cleanliness, warmth, and very well looked after. Mind you, we stayed here for one night after camping on the tundra for three weeks, so we were also just happy to be back in civilization... More

Kangerlussuaq, althought not so exciting as Ilulissat, is a good introduction of the amazing Greenland. And Polar Lodge is a cosy, perfect place to spend some days. Unfortunately I was there from April 30th to May 2nd, so I didn't have the chance to see the northern lights. But I recommend highly the trip to the Ice Cap and the... More

Ok, so the five stars is based on the experience as well as the accommodation. As the other reviewers have said, this is a converted ex-US military base which is plonked in the middle of the wilderness. However, it is cosy, next to the airport and the supermarket, and surrounded by mountains for miles! I was with friends, but I... More

We stayed at this lodge for four nights from 7 to 11 March 2013. The staff are welcoming and speak good English. As others have said, the lodge is a cut above hostel style accommodation, converted from former air base buildings. The lodge is very warm and there is always plenty of hot water. Rooms appear to be single or... More

I stayed at Polar Lodge on 3 different occasions during my 9 days in Greenland. Only 100 metres from the airport, the Lodge is well located for accessing flights. Kangerlussuaq is mostly a convenience destination, enabling visitors to get from A to B. The Lodge operates as a B&B, and other meals can be had at either the airport cafe... More
