Mahfouz's classic novel "Miramar" takes place in a pension in Alexandria, and Egypt Hotel brought the book to mind the second I stepped into the lobby. It oozes "old Alexandria" and I was disappointed that the person in charge was NOT a stout, aging Greek landlady dressed in black; instead he was a very smart, efficient, helpful young Egyptian guy.... My stay in this hotel was arranged by the agents of my company in Egypt . When I was taken to the hotel , the look of its exterior was such that I told my contact that I could not stay there , but he persuaded me to have a look before I decided. ( The exterior is in quite... More

Checkin was fast. Its a small room with a nice view. Room was clean. Bathroom was clean. Bed was generally clean. There was dry stain on the pillow sheet but it not very visible, like it was washed over and over but wouldn't come out. Hot water in the shower lasts 15-20 MAX, so be quick. Maybe it was our... A delightfully ancient lift (but in good working order) up to the hotel. A lovely reception area in the Old Colonial décor. The rooms are "shabby chic", and none to well appointed (no bedside lights, a shower with its own agenda etc) but this place is absolutely delightful, and the staff are friendly and courteous too. If you're not insisting... More

It is more like a pension than a hotel. We stayed there for 2 nights. One triple room. Positive: sea- view, perfect location, friendly staff, cleaned rooms, WiFi, air condition. Negative: pillow was really stiff, that it caused me severe neck pain in the morning & I had to take painkiller. Due to over-looking the sea, the noise was horrible,... More

We stayed here for just one night. The hotel is nice enough but expensive for what it is. The rooms were fine, comfortable beds and an ok bathroom. They were noisy but then given the location of the hotel we expected this and slept fine with earplugs. The first problem was with the air con which was leaking water. Someone... More

About 1 1/2 months ago, my family and I went to Egypt to visit our friend in Alexandria. Since he didn't have enough room in his house for us, we stayed at this hotel instead. It is a VERY nice hotel with French architecture that has not been refurbished but in immaculate condition. The hotel itself is actually a floor... More

Enjoyed our stay, staff were friendly and rooms were clean. Would definitely consider going back as the general atmosphere was just what we needed even though it's a budget hotel. And it's great for local sightseeing and the harbour is great.

I chose the Hotel Egypt from tripadvisor reports, and had no reason to regret my decision. Small in size, just one floor, the fifth, on a street off the Corniche, but the room I was allocated faced the harbour, so I woke to see the Med. A nice balcony too. Breakfast like most hotels in Egypt was simple, but then... More

My two friends and I stayed one night. The room was clean, the atmosphere pleasant, the staff friendly, and the beds comfortable. The view was great. It was quite noisy between the traffic on the Corniche on one side and the tram on the other. Great location for sightseeing though.
