We stayed at the Maritza for a couple of nights and had mixed experiences. The room was large but very dark due to the decor. The room was non-smoking but the aroma of smoke was everywhere. The lobby bar prices were extremely high (double the mini bar price) and the staff were a little brusque but this is normal in... More

During our trip (Aug 2013) , we stayed in several hotels in Bulgaria. in Plovdiv we found Maritza 4-star hotel, as the most Impressive beauty, relatively inexpensive and clean. We stayed there two nights. Though the room was actually a suite in a very theatrical and sexy design, I must say that In the bathroom I couldn't see very well... More

If you can get the right rate, I went through Booking.com.this is a great hotel 40 euros a night for a deluxe double ,single occupancy. The room is basicallya suite with a great view. stayed for 2 nights late june could not find fault.

The decor is a waaaay over the top, but it is meant to be. Totally theatrical and quite sexy. It has to be seen. If you want to experience an exotic hotel in Plovdiv, give it a try. I found some of the staff a bit odd, but that's Bulgaria. I found the level of food and comfort as good... More

The hotel is overly ornate, but also run down. The bathrooms all have a bizarre smell that did not go away during our stay. The air conditioning was not reliable and our hotel room was often hot/humid. The beds were rather uncomfortable. On return trips, I would stay elsewhere. The positive notes: We found the staff to be helpful when... More

I was in Plovdiv for almost 2 weeks, and therefore decided to spend a little bit extra for a '4 star' hotel. I left disappointed. Firstly the rooms. Opulent, lavishly furnished, but mine was also extremely hot and was next to the main road so was woken up every morning by the traffic. The worst thing about the room was... More

DO NOT GO THERE NOT EVEN IF YOU ARE GIVEN HOTEL STAY FOR FREE..never in my traveling life have I been to a supposedly 4* Hotel which has left me sick in the stomach each day I spent there. We had to hold our noses and open our bedroom windows for fresh air in freezing weather. The nasty smell,as soon as... More

First of all - the hotel was 50 Euros per night - for 2 people, including breakfast! Reception is like something from a film set - beautiful chinese vases (nearly 6ft tall), fabulous plants, and all sorts of quirky art deco pices - look for the telephone and stand near the reception desk. The room was - simply amazing -... More

As I write this I am in the bedroom of our "apartment". We have a king size bed which consists of 2 twin beds along with a sofa that pulls out to make a full size sofa. Unfortunately the hotel staff has no sheets for the pull out sofa that is simply a single cot only for one person and... More
