The hotel displays some magazines claiming this to be the most sought after hotel in the mediteranean. the hotel was fantastic, the location, the wonderful Taverna restaurant built into the side of the hill with amazing views of the mediteranean and old town of Dubrovnik. Food was excellent. Hotel staff were exceptionally pleasant and helpful. This hotel is most definitely 5 star and I would highly recommend it to all. I could not fault this hotel. more

We have just returned from a three night stay at The Excelsior. Dubrovnik is a great place for a weekend break with its medieval town and stunning coastline with some beaches. A one night stop over before heading south to Montenegro, but we were there from 16.00 til 10.00 the following day. Check in guy very helpful, but I don't think he was local. Maybe German? We had a twin room even though we booked a double but didn't bother complaining. (We would have done if we had been staying longer.)... more
