Good place to stay inside the Dioclecian palace very convenient to go walking everywhere. Rooms are new and good decorated and quite spacious. Breakfast can be improved a bit. Staff very friendly and with good recommendations to eat and visit. We will come back again for sure.

We stayed at the Slaviya for one night. It's in a great location inside the walls of Diocletian's Palace. On arrival we were offered an upgrade to a top floor room and breakfast on the terrace adjoining the room, which we took. A porter took our bags - the hotel is in the process of having an elevator installed. The... More

Great place to stay within the palace walls. Room was modern and well-appointed. Staff is super friendly and double as guides when not at front desk. Our guide, Mariana, gave a very detailed, passionate and informative history of the palace. She is the best and can highly recommend her services.

Not your typical hotel but we loved it! World heritage site, fantastic location and great service. We had triple room with roof terrace which was great to sit out on and watch the world go by. Our son had his own single room which was a plus. No lift, or ice maker etc but fridge in room. Limited breakfast but... More

This is an old building inside Diocletians Palace - quite something in itself. There is no road access inside the Palace (pedestrian only) and the main access to to hotel is up steps. This may change once renovations are complete. The interior has a modern feel and is clean and comfortable. Staff on reception could not be more helpful -... More

I really liked this hotel, because all staff is friendly(especially short cut lady!you are the best), kind, and helpful. hotel is clean and stylish designed rooms as well. as renovating, there wasn't a mini bar and elevator was out of order but we had no problem. we had completely awesome time there. it's located n the... Usually I just read Trip Advisor reviews but this time I decided to write, because I am really impressed by people who work there. This is what customer service should be like. I was corresponding with this people for months before getting to Croatia and they were the reason we’ve chosen to stay there, and we’ve stayed 6 nights here... More

The hotel is located in very unusual setting within the walls of Dioceltian's palace. It has a very modern feel and was very clean. The service on arrival was extremely helpful and welcoming. They really couldn't do enough for us (including going to the dock to secure tickets for the ferry to Hvar for us, at 7am). Breakfast was not... More

The Hotel Slavija was way below expectations. There were so many negative aspects that we could not recommend staying there. As other reviewers have said it is very hard to find and involved a lot of walking about with cases before finally located. It is up a narrow stepped alleyway that is used by a cafe bar so it difficult... More

Slept badly due to nightclub next door which stops at 2 am. Facilities are basic. Breakfast room small so had to wait for table. Orange squash rather than juice for breakfast?!? Croissant not great, and coffee indifferent. However staff are great and anxious to help.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Hotel Slavija is type of a heritage hotel due to its location, history and protection by Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Croatia and UNESCO. The Diocletian's Palace was built in the middle of the 3rd century AD, while the Hotel Slavija was built inside its walls, above the Emperor's western baths. Therefore, it can be concluded that the building of the hotel influenced the protection of the Baths from the devastation. With time the building of the hotel expanded, and from the Baroque palace it became today's Hotel Slavija. Hotel Slavija is under the protection of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Croatia, and in part is protected by the UNESCO. The location in the very center of the town makes Hotel Slavija an ideal choice for a stay in Split, surrounded by all relevant historical buildings of the city of Split, including the Temple of Jupiter, the St. Duje Cathedral, the Milesi palace... It is ideal place for both business and pleasure travelers because of its location. Hotel is situated in the very center of the city and is but a few minutes walk from all the major attractions as well as from the main bus terminal, airport shuttle terminal, railway station and ferry. The hotel has 25 rooms and each room is air conditioned, with private bath, hair dryer, satellite TV, Internet connection and direct dial telephone. Some of the rooms are with terraces and Hotel is especially proud to present them because, terraces are rarity in the old part of Split. In the lobby of the hotel is Internet Hot spot, which is free for hotel guests. We also provide faxing, copying, printing and scanning, as well as laundry service. ... more   less
