We walked by the Hotel Plaza Mayor in Antigua, hoping to find a quieter location to stay (our previous hotel was above a bar that got pretty loud at night). What we found was a beautiful, almost royal little hotel that we did not want to leave.

The location was less than a block from the central square, and the staff went out of their way to help us - whether it was the time we got locked out of our room at night, or the time when our taxi to the airport was running late. Whatever we needed - we didn't even have to ask.

The rooms come with private bath, hot water, cable TV and lots of charm. We paid just $40 - it was worth every penny.
