We had heard great things about Casa Santo Domingo from many friends when we have visited Guatemala before last year. This year we had to see for ourselves, when the time aros to visit I wanted to see what th talk was about. The history must be seen in person to be believed. This is not only a hotel and... More

This is a truly beautiful and unusual hotel, with five small museums and ruins on the grounds of the property. An assortment of old carvings and other art objects are scattered around the communal areas, where you get a real sense of history. I'm sure the good points have been written up in detail already so I'll move on to... More

I have stayed several times in this hotel and I have never been disappointed. The rooms are great, the quality of service is excellent and the staff helpful. Due to the arquitechture you may not get the best wifi signal in your room but you will survive on the common areas. Moreover you do not want to miss the rest... More

Stayed here with a large group for a conference. Hotel is reclaiming an old monastery with ruins, wooden statues and art throughout the hotel. A new SPA should open in a week or two and we toured it with the owner. Should be outstanding! Service is very good. I think there is a concerted effort to provide jobs as there... More

We were at this property for five days associated with a business meeting. The hotel, the people, and the food were wonderful and we would return with absolutely no hesitation at all. The overall atmosphere has been designed to reflect the convent that existed there in former times -the music, the lighting, etc. This was a great stay!

You will not be disappointed if you are fortunate enough to stay at Casa Santo Domingo in Antiqua! Wonderful people and hospitality abound! Beautiful historic ruins, flowers and atmosphere. It's like being transported back in time! I was ready to go back before we left! Don't miss this one folks!

We stayed at the Cassa Santo Domingo in November 2015, for three nights. Whilst it may look like a nice hotel and has the reputation of being one of the best 12 hotels in Latin America, the management service was appalling and some of the rooms are like a prison cell. On arrival at about 11.30 p.m., we were kept... More

This used to be a Dominican monastery, adjacent to a Dominican convent. Properties were nationalized in 1873 when Guatemala took over church lands, later sold to private parties. 1st buyer was an American archaeologist affiliated with the University of PA, who later sold it to one of Guatemala's 14 elite families. Present owner has developed it as a luxury hotel... More

Casa Santo Domingo is a large and beautiful historic group of buildings, originally a monastery/church. The ruins have been seamlessly integrated into the hotel structures, and the landscaping and exterior spaces use these old walls and spaces as a part of the overall plan. Rooms are large and well designed, amenties include working fire places, plenty of hot water, good... More
