I just returned from a 4 night stay at the hotel. The grounds are beautiful. The hotel is very tranquil and peaceful. The property is very large with several museums so be prepared to walk. The standard room was large. The bathroom was also large. The sleeping rooms are not air conditioned so be prepared to sleep with the window... more

After we saw the pretty grounds, we encountered poor service, incompetence at the concierge and main desk. But far worse, we feared for our safety and were somewhat intimidated by the secutity guards with walkie-talkie all over the grounds, litterally watching your every move. Who ever gave 5 star to this hotel was sorely mistaken. We were relieved to leave. more

We stayed on the cusp of the high season. Good thing we booked in three weeks in advance but were only able to get two nights. I suggest you book well ahead. This was one of the most amazing hotels we have every stayed at in a Latin American country. It was so beautiful! We paid $140.00 which included the... more

As our 3rd time to Antigua in the past 3 years, we were looking very forward to staying at the Casa Santo Domingo. Our group made reservations for a 1 week stay about 8 months earlier. About 6 weeks before our departure, we were notified that our reservations for the first 4 nights were being cancelled because someone had "booked"... more

We stayed at this place for a couple of nights during our honeymoon. It was definitely one of the highlights of our trip, and it is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful hotels we’ve ever been to (we are both in our 30s and travel quite extensively). However, there were some problems that we were not expecting in a hotel... more

Excellent hotel! The hotel's restaurant is one of the best I ever had, with good price for the service. I went to a wedding there, just perfect, with candles at the ruins. Perfect mood. more

The hotel is great, the grounds are beautiful, the rooms are spacious and well kept, decorated in guatemalan fashion but with a modern touch. When you come in the room it will have that wow factor. The bathroom is OK but it could use a facelift becuase it seemed a bit old. Also the towels and linens could be of... more

I have seen some occasional mixed reviews about service at CSD. Huh? Lets be clear: this is one of the most spectacular hotels and settings of anyplace anywhere ...and I travel a lot. I was at a wedding there...two thousand candles in a 16th century setting lighting the way and it only got better. We had NO problems, the food... more

We spent a total of 5 days in Antigua - 4 at the beginning of our trip and 1 at the end. After taking Elizabeth Bell's tour, which ends at the hotel, we decided to make our last night really special and asked her to book the hotel. We made sure to get back to Antigua in time to enjoy... more

My daughter and I stayed one night at this hotel and were disappointed in the service, the room, the management and the hotel "security". After checking in we attempted to find my step-mother's room and were refused admission by a security guard. When we complained to the manager she stated that there was nothing she could do since the security... more
