I was supposed to leave to Xela, but ended up overstaying 2 extra days because this hostel was like a second home. I've stayed in lots of hostels, and this one stands out because of the varied and friendly guests who take their lead from Raul and Fernando who make you feel most welcomed. The rooms are basic, but adequate... More

First thing this was my first ever hostel experience, I have always been a solo traveler and stayed in hotels. My friend who I was traveling with was on a budget so I agreed to stay at hostel. We stayed here on our way to San Juan and San Pedro the owners went out of their way to accommodate us... More

First thing, the staff are friendly (though not as helpful as other reviews had stated) and yes it is cheap with a free breakfast, but the mattresses and pillows were the worst I've slept on, and the beds themselves were super short. Also the bathrooms weren't really that clean and at a few points actually plain dirty. The wifi kept... More

This is my 2nd time staying in Antigua and have nothing but good things to say about this hostel and the owners. In one word - comfortable. If you are looking for a 5 star hotel, this is not it. But I've stayed in over 30 hostels during my travels and none has had the personal feel that this place... More

This hostel has a very relaxed feel, and what makes it even better is the service. Raul (the owner) is a very trustworthy and honest individual. He will help you with any information that you need and help you book activities to do. Overall, I had a great stay.

Quite a basic hostel but fine for what you pay. Staff are a local family and are friendly and helpful. My only complaint is that the upstairs bathroom was pretty dirty and hasn't been cleaned properly in a long time. But again it's a very cheap hostel so you can deal with these imperfections

The price and the owner Raul are the best parts of this place but there are lots of things to like such as breakfast included with coffee, well equipped kitchen, good wifi, comfortable common area, hot showers and good security. Raul gave us great advice for things such as climbing acatenango ie he recommended a company in town for an... More

My friends and I spent a few nights at "A Place to Stay" 3 weeks ago, and I have to say it is a perfect place for backpackers ! Raul, the owner, is very friendly and takes care of his hosts (he gave us a lot of good advices). Clearly we had a really good stay ! Thanks !!!

One of the best atmosphere's of any hostel I've stayed in, which to me is the most important thing in a hostel. The rooms are basic and clean, the communal area is brilliant, with one long dining table which makes communal meals very easy. The best thing about the hostel though is Raul, the owner. He seemed to genuinely care... More

I have spent over ten years of my life studying, working, or travelling in over fifty countries. Raul (the causally mellow yet concerned and professional host) is a key part of what makes A Place To Stay one of the top ten hostels I have experienced. Grounds are quiet and secure and excellent value for money. Raul will help you... More
