I have not stayed a night at the inn and would not do so based on two separate tours I have taken of the lighthouse. I can confirm that the lodgers whose stay was ruined by the overbearing hosts would have had fair warning if they had taken the tour. It is a fascinating tour to be sure; the work... more

Looking at the ratings of Sandhills LIghthouse Inn, it's obvious that people either love it or hate it. There are very few moderate opinions.. I fall in the Love category. My advice is to read the reviews, ask yourself what experience you're looking for, and then make a decision. From the remote, scenic location to the awesome talents and history... more

When we originally booked this B & B, we mistakenly thought it was a place to lay our heads and grab breakfast in the morning. If you are not willing to allow Sandhills Lighthouse and Bill and Mary to be part of the experience, this place is not for you. We were celebrating our anniversary with good friends. We decided... more

What applies to heaven, may apply to Sandhills Lighthouse. Having recently and reluctantly departed from our third stay with Bill and Mary you can accurately assume that our experiences have been heavenly. Read the other reviews, even those for whom this bit of heaven isn't their preferred destination, and then please consider these thoughts: Yes, the surf of Lake Superior... more

The website looked nice and sounded like the most perfect B & B on the planet. How could you go wrong with a restored lighthouse on the Lakeshore? When I first saw the room, I was staying in, and met the hosts I wanted to leave and stay somewhere else immediately. My wife however wanted to give this place a... more

You aren't going to get what you paid for and this place totally sucks. Read the other reviews about the overbearing hosts and believe it. If you want to waste your time and money and stay at a dusty, cluttered, musty bed and breakfast then this place is for you. I can't in good faith recommend anyone to stay here... more

This summer we returned for our third stay at Sand Hills Lighthouse Inn, and each year we seem to enjoy it more and more. Most of the other guests during our stays are also repeat customers and have expressed the same sentiments. Bill and Mary are B&B proprietors extraordinaire! They really made us feel at home, in their home. The... more

I am also shocked at some of the reviews. This years trip to sandhills lighthouse was just as wonderful as the past trips. All but one couple the last night we stayed had stayed at sandhills before. The number of people the return each year to this wonderful place says a lot about the beauty and experience of this bed... more

If a bed and breakfast is more than just a place to stay, we recommend Sand Hills Lighthouse Inn. Sand Hills, on the rocky Lake Superior shore, is the largest lighthouse on the Great Lakes. Facing Lake Superior and backed by Northern Michigan forest, the setting is almost indescribably beautiful. But that's just part of the experience. The warmth and... more
