I spent two nights at one of the most authentic beautiful places you will ever have the privilege to stay. Sand Hills Lighthouse Inn is run by 2 incredible people with excellent insight, rich history, and knowledge of the Lighthouse and the Keweenaw Peninsula. You will never find more gracious people and delicious food then at the Sand Hills Lighthouse.

Overall, we had a pleasant stay at Sand Hills. Mary and Bill treat everyone like family. Our room was perfect for us and very comfortable. Yes, everything is a little dusty as many reviewers have noted. However, the bedding and towels and the bathroom were clean, and for a place such as this, that is fine. One warning: if your... More

When we tell friends about our trip to Michigan's U.P., the first thing we mention is the Sand Hills Lighthouse Inn. The love that innkeepers Mary and Bill Frabotta have poured into the lighthouse is evident everywhere -- in the restoration work done to the building, the carefully selected antique furniture and furnishings, the delicious homemade desserts and fancy breakfasts... We spent two nights at the Lighthouse (one was for my birthday). The owners require payment in advance by check. I made reservations based solely on reviews here on trip advisor. The Lighthouse is lovely outside and in a beautiful location. The owners have spent a lot of time and money rebuilding the lighthouse from an abandoned mess. We arrived... More

The Innkeepers rank the best part about this lighthouse B & B. Mary and Bill have owned Sand Hills Lighthouse since 1961 but they didn't start hosting guests until 1995. In those years they've accumulated quite a log of stories, and it's ALWAYS about the stories. Ask to climb the tower--Mary will likely guide you. You'll also never leave her... More

My husband and I visited the Sand Hills Lighthouse Inn for a short summer break, and we couldn’t have made a more perfect choice. Immediately upon arrival, we were given a private tour of the inn/lighthouse tower from the wonderfully vivacious little lady of the home, Mary, and her quiet, dedicated husband, Bill…so right off the bat, we were feeling... By the charming fireplace is a small certificate that rates Sand Hills Inn as one of the top 10 romantic places to stay. The attentive hostess, Mary has a heart for romance and delights in providing those romantic, special touches for couples. We arrived on a warm day, and were greeted by name with refreshing glasses of cool water. Remember... More

Definitely a 'Superior' experience. Beautiful surroundings, lulled to sleep by waves on the shore. No other bed and breakfast treats you like a loved part of the family like Mary and Bill do. Yes, you are guests in their home and as such you naturally consider their schedule. If you are going to miss dessert ( and why would you:... More

Our room was spacious and comfortable with large attached bathroom. Our young grandson was traveling with us and we were able to get a room with a separate attached small bedroom with a single bed for him. He was thrilled. Mary, our hostess, went out of her way to make him feel special, even though he was the only adult... More

We've been here before...and before...and before. The breakfast is always more than one has a right to expect. The owners are kind and attentive (see below), to say the least. But Winter...hmmm...what would that bring...??? AMAZING. We checked in to hot tea and hot chocolate, and a room that at 68 degrees was incredible given the -39 wind chill outside.... More
