My partner and I stayed at the Sandhill Lighthouse Inn during a long weekend of "leafing" in the UP. The lighthouse is quaint and the location is picturesque. We really enjoyed walking along the rocky shore of Lake Superior each morning and watching the sunset from the lighthouse tower. The Inn keeper shared many stories about the history and renovations... More

We had a great time at the Sand Hills B&B. Bill & Mary are very unique and passionate B&B owners. I read some of the negative reviews others had written and I suspect that those folks are very disrespectful trolls who should have stayed at the Motel 6 where they belong with all the other trolls. Our experience was memorable.... More

We made an effort to stay at B&Bs if possible during our great lakes trip. I have to say SHL B&B was the best one we had for this trip. "Best" here does not mean outstanding amenities or services, but rather the experience we had and remembered. It is not like any B&B we stayed! I read most of the... More

We stayed here for our anniversary and loved it! It was clean, breakfast was delicious, and Bill and Mary gracious hosts. We enjoyed sunsets on the beach every night, followed by dessert and Mary's piano playing. It was lovely, their home is charming.

My wife and I were on a lighthouse tour of the upper peninsula and the apostle islands of Wisconsin. I had seen this lighthouse Inn on the internet and was interested in staying there but they required a 2 night stay and we were only going to be in the area for one night. The day before we went up... More

Spent Memorial Day weekend at this most wonderful of B&Bs. Furnished with genuine antiques throughout, each with a story. And, the accompanying stories from "Merry Mary" and Bill bring the place to life. A refreshing break from the craziness of everyday life. A great place to remember the lively art of conversation and the simple pleasures of good friends, old... More

On the plus side, homemade breakfasts and desserts were delicious. The lakefront location was lovely and ideal. The history of the lighthouse (and the preservation of it) is fascinating. The idea of staying at in a former lighthouse keeper's quarters is cool. The vibe is relaxing. This B&B has little (minor) details that many overlook, like tissues in the room,... More

It would be hard to find a more scenic location. Owners were great as was the breakfast and nightly desert. The piano was also played at nice and even during breakfast. Very nice lighthouse tour. I found the room to be a little small but given it was a lighthouse that was to be expected. Very Victorian to say the... More

The lighthouse is a charming old building that we loved visiting. Wished we hadn't committed to staying there though. All the rooms were over-furnished and cluttered. The gaudy window treatments and bedspreads were over-due in being cleaned. There was dust everywhere. Our bedroom floor was wooden, but with about 3 inches of dust near all the walls. There was lint... More
