I booked rooms for myself, my brother's family, and my mom and sister for a brief stay in Traverse City. Based on the resort's website, I was very excited at the prospect of a relaxing and high-quality stay. OUR ENTIRE GROUP WAS HUGELY DISAPPOINTED. Our first room was on the first floor, and we found the entire floor to be... more

-Teenagers run this place -The pictures you see online are most likely what you will NOT get -They say they're going green yet the air conditioner is about 20 years out of date. -No coffee maker, but you can get coffee for 9 bucks a pot from the restaurant (not including delivery charges...aweful coffee) -The spa should provide free massages... more

I have stayed at the Grand Traverse Resort often over the past years. Over the past 6 months, I have stayed at the resort 4 times, 1 for leisure and the other times for business reasons. The quality of the hotel and the friendliness of the staff are outstanding in my opinion. I have always been treated extremely well every... more

After reading all the bad reviews of Grand Traverse Resort on this website, I was really worried about what our stay would be like. Maybe because of my lowered expectations, I was pleasantly surprised at what a nice stay we had. We arrived at noon, July 3rd, fully expecting to be told we would need to wait to check in.... more

We have stayed in lots of places all over the US and Europe. This hotel is overpriced ($150) and they say they are going "green"....that's why there are no coffee makers in the rooms, no mini fridges or microwaves either. We have stayed in less expensive hotels and had a more pleasant stay. The down comforter on our bed was... more

Prices too high, luckily I saw review that no coffee makers are provided in the room so we packed our own. Got to resort at 1pm hoping for early check in and knowing it was our best weather day by their predictions. They couldn't provide us our room until we returned 4 times and asked about the room availablity until... more

Stayed and payed $129/night and was pleased with overall experience. The restaurant was exceptional and the Bear golf couse was surperb. The room in the hotel wing was average for the price, although at the normal rate of $250.00 it would be a bit below par. Overall I had a good experience and would stay there again. I played the... more

I checked in with great trepidation due to the decidely mixed reviews of this property. Contrary to the reviews, the staff was responsive. The room was perfect: great views of Grand Traverse Bay, quiet, clean, in good shape. My only complaint was the hotel has no coffee maker (and I am a coffee drinker so this was a major annoyance).... more

I went to the resort with 5 other friends for a girls weekend. The location is amazing, close to vineyards, it was very clean, and our room was fantastic. However, my camera was stolen when left at the spa after hours (I was the last guest to leave, and went as soon as they opened, and my camera was gone).... more

First my average rating is based on comparison to high end resorts such as Reynolds Plantation in Georgia or Loews Ventana in Arizona. Grand Traverse isn't in their class; but, it has a lot of pluses. Without exception, every staff member was friendly and helpful. I ate at the Grille at the golf clubhouse and the casual restaurant in the... more
