The hotel staff was super friendly and accommodating. However, they couldn't make up for the very old and worn rooms. Especially given the price. The beds, furniture and bathroom were all very dated. The restaurant was lovely as was the staff. It also has a great location if you like being near the harbor.

The White Elephant hotel location couldn't be better if you want to explore the town by foot. It feels like a quintessential Nantucket resort. Lots of activity in the area with weddings being popular on site and the local kids beach across the street. Only a few blocks tot the heart of the town. Rented bikes from youngs bike rental,... Dear jimstooth; Thank you for posting a tripadvisor review. It sounds like you had a great time! The Wauwinet Lady boat ride is fun isn't it? It is a great idea to make a reservation, as seats are limited as you know. The round trip boat ride is complimentary and is associated with a noon lunch or brunch reservation or... More

Painfully expensive but somehow you won't feel short-changed. Serious $$ and attention to detail has been invested here and it is evident in so many ways that the budgetary trade-off tilts towards a shorter visit staying here. I won't list everything but really appreciated Marek and the bell staff's excellent service, the great indoor/outdoor breakfast and dinner, and the drink... More

Nantucket is a very special island. And the White Elephant is a perfect place to stay when visiting the Island. It oozes charm. It's an elegant boutique hotel that draws you in from the second you enter. The rooms are very comfortable and well appointed. The staff is very helpful. And the lounge and bar harken back to the 1920's.... More

Dear SandiS; Thank you for reviewing us online! It is nice to hear that you had a nice stay with us! I love our bar area (both the indoor and outdoor bars) as they are so different. We have a gift certificate to stay here that we have yet to use but we recently stopped in for tea on a rainy summer afternoon and were treated to tea and cake in the Library. We only attended a wedding reception here, we were not hotel guests. The setting is amazing, they have a great lawn right in front of the beach. Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The White Elephant has been an exclusive summertime retreat since the 1920s. The height of preppy New England elegance, this is the place where brides dream of being married and families come for generations. A stone’s throw from the center of town, this 64-room island treasure has accommodations ranging from garden cottages to suites on the harbor. The hotel’s mascot, a white elephant named Trunket, presides over its greener than green lawn. Set with plush lounge chairs, it overlooks bustling Nantucket Harbor and calm Children’s Beach. Brant Point Grill serves up a famed Sunday brunch, with their signature Lobster Bloody Mary. To maximize their vacation-induced glow, guests should not miss the Gift from the Sea Facial at the White Elephant Spa, a deep-cleansing detox treatment with marine exfoliators. ... more   less
