There isn't much to do on this little island, but if you're going there, you probably already know that. One bright spot was this little hotel restaurant that served up hot and delicious, locally caught fishcakes. After several days of food aboard the ship, it was a welcome surprise. The prices were good (they could, after all, ask just about... More

This is a gorgeous hotel with an authentic colonial feel to the buildings. The staff are attentive, engaging, pleasant, and went out of their way to be friendly and helpful in every way - including arranging my hire car, a tour guide, and dealing with my baggage transfer to and from the RMS. Things close early, but that's how it... More

The Consulate Hotel in Jamestown is located in the very centre of town and operates as a Hotel, Bar, Restaurant and function suite. Some reviews are critical of the Consulate where others recognise that it is not a central London boutique hotel and rate it accordingly. We live locally and regularly use the Consulate for lunches or drinks on a... More

Travelling to St Helena Island is a major effort at the moment, once the airport opens in 2015 it will be much easier. Staying at the Consulate Hotel is a must. The hotel interior is eclectic but homely. The room I had was well appointed with lovely linen sheets which helps when it is hot. The staff are friendly and... More

I had great expectations of one of the supposedly best hotels on St Helena. It is certainly a very beautiful old building with lots of character and fine antique furniture. It is also nicely situated on the Main Street of Jamestown, putting it at the centre of town life. Unfortunately, this was as good as it got. The service was... More

I am actually living on St Helena, but stay at the Consulate if having a night out in town. The staff are very helpful and nothing seems to be too much trouble. For me, walking around and looking at the furniture which goes from old style colonial to beams taken from old sailing ships is fascinating. Breakfast is lovely and... More

We didnt stay in hotel due to confusion about whether it was open or closed. Further confusion was evident whenever we had reason to visit, ( for meals in the dining room, drinks in the courtyard) but it was still a great experience. The island is changing, confusion will inevitably be part of that process. Be patient and enjoy. The... More

I lived and worked on the Island of Saint Helena for an 8 month period, and can best describe the experience as frustrating, dirty and mind bogglingly poor, this is an Island wide phenomenon. Public health is quetionable The customer service on this Island is pathetic, and the Consulate Hotel is no exception. The open seating area where the public... More
