Our family of four stayed in the Webster room for two nights at the end of August, the room was clean and decorated with old tinkets which added to the cosy feeling. The main house was beautiful and had a collection of photo's showing all the renovation works leading to this very nice guest house. The beds were probably the... more

We stayed here for three nights dropping our daughter off at college. We were in the Poet's Room, which worked fine for the three of us - the fold-out bed was not wonderful but fairly comfortable. Breakfasts were very pleasant and generous. Our one problem was finding the inn late at night - no lit signs so it is easy... more

Fairly comfortable lodging and good for an overnight stay in Amherst. Within short driving distance of eateries and attractions. Friendly inn owner and delicious traditional breakfast items. Amherst Advice Parking in downtown/main area can be difficult--expect to circle around quite a bit for parking Emily Dickinson Homestead/Evergreens--worth the visit/tour. more

I stopped at the Black Walnut Inn several years ago and was impressed by its beautiful rooms and secure grounds. While planning a 7 week trip to the USA to video documentary interviews, I decided to stay at the Inn for several days at the beginning (May) and end (July) of my cross country production tour. It was conveniently located... more

Just got back from a weekend in Amherst at the Black Walnut Inn. I loved it! The room was charming, the breakfast was incredible, and the owners were lovely. They were waiting for me in the kitchen every morning at 7:00 am......very accommodating to my early schedule. I came home with some delicious, home made marmalade! more

My fiance and I took a cross state B&B trip over the course of 4 days and three nights. The second night our stay was here at the Black Walnut Inn. The previous review is spot on! Our room was absolutely fantastic (The Cahart Room). Please stay in this room if you travel to the Inn. It was not only... more

Certainly deserving of its high ratings, we stayed here for "graduation weekend" in May when this B&B was completely booked. Our generally wonderful experience was marred by the breakfast scene on each of our two mornings: 22 people needing breakfast, but the table seats only 8! A quality B&B such as the Black Walnut Inn should not have a morning... more

At this Inn, we experienced our first incident of discrimination against us as a family with a young child (2 years old) leading us to write our first negative review on this forum. We often stay in B&B's, especially since having our son, and we always research the properties ahead of time to confirm that children are welcome. In this... more

The Black Walnut Inn is a quintessential New England Inn. With homemade blueberry pancakes and fresh maple syrup for breakfast if you choose. As a B&B owner myself (www.thesummerlands.com) I was most impressed with the cleanliness and friendliness at the Black Walnut. Most notably, EDD, who has been known to wax poetic at breakfast! EDD even let me check out... more

This is a beautiful Inn with very friendly and dedicated innkeepers. We stayed in the Carhart room, which might rank as the nicest hotel/B&B room we've been in . Built in the 18th century, the Innkeepers lovingly updated and restored this farmhouse over the course of 15 years. The efforts show. We regretted not having spent enough time in the... more
