This breathtaking bed-and-breakfast is as perfect as perfect can be. Nestled at the top of one of several hills in storybook-lovely Amherst, Mass., this richly appointed inn just happens to be directly across the leafy lane from Emily Dickinson's lifelong home. I of course wanted to open the windows a crack, in hopes of breathing in poetic autumnal airs. The... More

I've stayed at this inn at various times while in Amherst MA for a conference at the university. It's a very close walk (less than 5 minutes) to the town center where there are always great places to eat, coffee houses (the Black Sheep is excellent), hangouts etc. It's also across from the Emily Dickinson House, of historical and literary... Can't say enough about the kindness of the folks who run this place. They're very proud of this beautiful old house (as they are of its sister B&B just down the street, the Allen House Inn), and rightfully so. If you have any downtime during your stay, they'll be happy to tell you about the fascinating story of the house... More

The Amherst Inn is a lovely, warm place to stay and looks out on the Emily Dickinson House. The breakfast was delicious, our hostesses hospitable, and I met a couple who loved opera as much as I do. The inn is beautiful in every detail.

We decided on a whim to stay at a b and b for our anniversary while traveling. We couldn't be any happier when we stumbled across the allen house. The owners were more than accomodating we felt like we were old friends being welcomed home. The Inn was beautiful with attention to every detail from the rosettes on the woodwork... More

This was our first trip to a B&B together, and it was a very impromptu stay on one of the biggest homecoming weekends for the surrounding colleges. We were incredibly lucky to secure a room, Napoleon's room! Very spacious, comfortable bed, private bath, electric fire place. Very very reasonable room rate, actually cheaper than some of the chain hotels/motels in... More

What started off as a not so pleasant experience, worked out well in the end. We went to the Amherst Inn for only one night to attend an event in Amherst. I booked into the Turret room as suggested by the proprietor, and on a subsequent call was told it was in the Allen house, down the road from the... More

So happy that I took the time to relax and enjoy a great get away weekend this fall with the gracious hostess and staff at the Amherst Inn. This delightful inn features a remarkable room with a perfectly hand stenciled border called the Lion's Den,where I got to unwind and go back to the days of Emily Dickinson who once... More

I was dropping off my daughter to college and stayed here for a few days. It was spectacular. There were many beautiful trees on the property. It was set off the beaten path. The house is huge and has lots of new england charm. The staff was great and very nice. It truly felt like home. The breakfast was really... More

We stayed at the Amherst Inn for a college visit for our son. The rooms were fabulous and the service exceptional. Breakfast was delicious! Finally, I left a small, valuable item in the room, and the staff immediately found it and sent it priority mail to my home. We will definitely stay at the Amherst Inn the next time we... More
