Lynda has a real gift for hospitality--she's so smart and thoughtful and detail-oriented--and she's a terrific cook and has an admirable sense of aesthetics as well, all of which add up to a top-notch B&B experience. Other reviewers have already done a great job of praising Lynda and the Purple Gables (and I concur with all their accolades), so I'll... More

Where do I begin? Lynda is so warm and inviting, the accomodations were wonderful, very spacious and clean, breakfast was delightful! Lynda had crackers and cheese waiting for us upon our arrival- delicious! She really pays attention to every little detail to make your stay special- I must have mentioned that my husband and I were coming for an overnight... More

We spent the night at Lynda's Purple Gable Inn and had a very relaxing time. The pristine suite in lovely pastel colors is attached to her kitchen. She greeted us in the driveway and had a small platter of cheese and crackers in our room upon arrival. The fridge had some cool water and several bottles of sparkling soda. She... More

Even though we made a last-minute booking, we received the full complement of Lynda’s hospitality – she greeted us in the driveway, she had a plate of cheese and crackers awaiting us, the cheerful suite was spotless and welcoming, and we were treated to one of her fabulous gourmet breakfasts the next morning. The attractive, colorful suite (we loved the... More

After a treacherous winter journey, we were greeted so warmly by Lynda, the owner and hostess, and immediately comforted with a snack and recommendations for dinner. The apartment is truly lovely and is perfect for parents and a teenager making the college tour. Very comfortable beds and linens, a large and toasty bathroom, light-filled sitting and dining area. And--the best... More

The Purple Gables was the perfect beginning for our New England vacation this last summer. We flew into Boston and drove to Amherst. Linda, the owner, greeted us at the door, and showed us our suite, which was just what we needed. The suite has its own entry, as well as a door leading to the rear garden area. The... More

Linda, the owner, does and did everything and more than anyone could expect from an owner. The breakfasts were of gourmet quality and the advice about the town helpful and caring. She is also a very interesting conversationalist and made our Amherst experience a true delight. Don't miss seeing the Eric Carle Museum, a short drive from the B&B. Make... More

The suite at Purple Gables is furnished tastefully and has all the amenities - and more - that one could wish for including a variety of snacks and beverages. The charming, roomy suite has a large bathroom, walk-in closet, separate entrance and access to the back yard. Linda was a most welcoming and helpful hostess and her breakfast was superb.... More

Linda took an interests in us right away, and pulled out all the stops to make us feel welcome. My own mom couldn't have taken better car of us. Home made scones, and granola, eggs. So much food! From museum tips, to dinner suggestions, all within walking distance. We also had use of the backyard to have a glass of... More

There don't seem to be a lot of options beyond B&B's in Amherst. My husband and I joke that "w'ere not B&B people" but Linda's lovely brand of hospitality has completely changed my mind. First of all, she is all heart, not stuffy at all and really invested in providing us an excellent experience. A stay at the Purple Gables... More
