Campground is situated on a gorgeous lake with swimming, kayaking, canoeing, power boating, and fishing. Unfortunately that's as good as it gets. The roads leading to and inside the campground are horrible, the service at the camp office was extremely slow, there was only one working washer and dryer (and they looked antiquated), they don't tell you about the hidden... My friend and I took our second trip to South Arm Campground last week. We rented a boat from the marina again and stayed at Narrows 2, which is a wilderness campsite located about 6.5 miles up on the east side of the lake. The landing area for the boat was excellent and we had a sandy beach. However, the... More

We had a great stay! Very clean - it was FREEZING, but the staff allowed us to move to a more protected site. The bathrooms were very clean, the staff was incredibly friendly - we definitely will be back!

Camp has lake frontage on 3 sides so lots of big lovely sites. Sandy swimming area, kayak/canoe rentals, sm. general store. Folks are friendly & helpful when I had to take tent down alone one morning after dropping husband on Appalachian Trail which is 3 mile down road. Quiet & folks follow rules about dogs/kids.

This is by far the quietest campground we have ever stayed at. The other campers were very considerate of each other and there was very little noise once the sun went down. Bathrooms were clean, the camp store had just the right items to replace what we had forgotten and the daily baked goods were, well, good. Wildlife sightings included... More

We are big fans of Bob and Dottie Thompson and have loved staying at South Arm- great location, and a great little selection of t-shirts and home-baked goodies. We are looking forward to our next trip!

Over the past two years South Arm has worked with us and returned us to the site we'd been on for many years, during the same time frame. Thank you, South Arm. While not all of our friends have returned, the 3 families who have are once again enjoying Richardson Lake, the Rapid River (especially, the flyfishermen in our group),... More

My family has been camping at South Arm for 15 years: 4 years in the campground; last 11 years at a remote site. We bring a large group of friends - averaging 8 adults and 7 kids. I cannot say enough about the beauty of Lower Richardson Lake. On our remote sites, we've had moose stop by for a visit,... More

My friend and I rented a boat from the marina and spent 3 nights on the lake. We camped at black cat brook which is about 4 miles up the lake. The site was decent...the east side of the lake looked like it has sandy beaches but the west side, where we camped, was very rocky. Overall great camping experience.... More

Bathrooms were clean and hot showers were free! However, I found the website to be misleading. Listed under activities, it says take a sunset cruise to see moose etc. Apparently, there are only cruises on Friday nights. It also says under the facilities section that there is a general store and bakery. The store is very sparse and there are... More
