We booked this hotel because it was recommended on Lonely Planet, why they recommended I do not know! The one nice thing was that they will pick you up at airport, but that is it! But beware, if you do not pay for 2 nights they want to charge you up to 40 dollars for the ride! So they kinda... more

the sheets may be clean but the pillows etc are clearly not and had a strange smell about them. also the sheets on the beds were far to small and you will find yourself waking up on a bare matress throughout the night. "breakfast" consists of 2 bread rolls, bad tea and OJ so we gave it a miss almost... more

We ended up at the Marparaiso after arriving in Panama with no accommodation organised and meeting a guy who had stayed here a few nights earlier, and Im glad we did. There is certainly nothing fancy about the place, the rooms are on the smallish side, but they are clean, have air-con (vital!) and have a private bathroom with hot... more

I planned to stay 4 nights in Hotel Marparaiso. On the second night I was kidnapped and robbed, spend more than 5 hours in police stations, before I was taken back to the hotel. I wanted to call my family and insurance company. After the first call, to my family, the lady at the frontdesk refused to accept another international... more

We have been traveling through Panama city for two years now and usually stay here. We have watched the value decrease as the prices have risen, but not much else has improved. With the exception of WIFI , which is now through out the building, we have not seen any improvements. But as a convenient place to spend a night... more

we've stayed in the marparaiso 3 times in the past 2 years when arriving or leaving panama city on vacation. it was recommended by a panamanian friend for the price and the airport pick-up. the hotel , staff and service were OK to begin with, but this year, 2008, have deteriorated : only one towel for 2 people, broken air... more

I am leaving this hotel today, but I must warn you how awful this place truly is. It started out with my pick up at the airport. They say they are always on time. WRONG!!! Even though the pick up is free (Their only redeeming quality), it was late by an hour an 30 minutes. Once they driver got there,... more

The other reviewers are all correct in their on ways; this hotel (not hostel) is an excellent value for the airport pickup alone (as long as you stay more than one night)! This hotel is surprisingly in a great location as far as planning trips, excursions, and taking tours around the neighborhood. We looked at several hotels & hostels online,... more

Stayed here while transiting through PC to Bocas. The rooms were cheap and I didn't find the area the hotel was located in too daunting after walking around there late in the afternoon. The rooms looked OK for $25/night and included the shuttle if you stayed 2 nights or an additional $10 if you only stayed 1 which was way... more

I'm a budget traveler and I make frequent trips to Panama City. I used to love the Hotel Marparaiso. It's in a central location, the restaurant has decent food and reasonable hours, and best of all there's the free airport shuttle. I have stayed in this hotel every year since it first opened, watched it gain popularity, and have enjoyed... more
