My wife and I arrived in Managua at 9pm from Houston and after quick passage through customs, we were happy to find the Barcelo shuttle bus waiting for us at the curb as promised. The ride from the airport to the hotel took about 20 minutes, though I assume during the day, this would be a lot longer.
Check-in was quick and efficient, we were in our room 10 minutes after arrival. Though the room was not very large, it was quite comfortable for an overnight stay. The king size bed was very comfortable and the furnishings appeared new. The bathroom looked to have been recently redone and offered virtually every travel size amenity one can think of.
The complimentary buffet breakfast at La Fontana offered a wide range of Nicaraguan specialties and lots of fresh fruit and juice.
Though our time was limited, we took time to visit the pool area for some fresh air and found spectacular views of the city and beyond to Lake Managua. It looked to be a very comfortable place... more
