Stayed here for only one night while I was passing through El Salvador. The place is a little difficult to find so make sure you have a good map/directions. The staff tried their best to help me although we did have some trouble communicating due to language barriers. The staff eventually called up Lena who helped me talk to them... More

We stayed here for two nights and was our first hostel in San Salvador. The manager Lena was amazing right from the start. She contacted our taxi driver we took from the airport and talked to us directly before arriving at the hostel just to make sure everything was going alright. She also offered any assistance or any additional information... More

We started our Central America trip in San Salvador and chose Ximena's for the first night. Lena (who speaks English) was a very helpful and nice! She arranged taxis transfers from the airport for our group. The staff is nice as well! However, we had rooms that really need to be renovated. They were not very expansive and we are... More

As other reviewers have mentioned, the staff are nice. But I'm afraid I can't find many other redeeming features about the hostel. I stayed in a 4-bed dorm for $9.50, but wifi access was an extra $2 and so was the locker. I stayed for 2 nights so this makes it $11.50 per night, and for this no breakfast or... More

I stayed in the guest house for 2 nights in May 2014. Upon arrival the receptionist couldn't speak English but she did telephone the manager (Lena) who did speak English. She was most friendly and did provide me with all the useful tourist information I needed. Despite the rest of the guest house appearing a little worn down, my room... More

Ximena's is quite run down and definitely lacks in atmosphere. Lena is really kind however, and when we had to complain about the first room they gave us, they upgraded us to a nicer one with no extra charge. Thank goodness because the first one was really a box underneath the stairs with the toilet seat falling off and the... More

Due to a lack of wifi while in Cuco Beach, I didn't have a chance to thoroughly review potential guest houses in San Salvador prior to my arrival there. I remembered this one because of a flyer I saw while in Juayua earlier in the trip. While I applaud the owner for making a guest house available in San Salvador... More

Pro's: spacious rooms, oke bed, very attentive manager (Lena), in the "right" area, close to the bus and mall (Metrocentro). Con's: $30,- for an old and not so well maintained room; most of the water from the shower ends up at the wall, inventive stairways to our room and rooftopterrace..., hairs in our towels, etc. Overall: I would not stay... We stayed here in August 2013 and it was our first stop on our El Salvador / Guatemala trip. The guesthouse was everything we expected, with a few added benefits. We stay at 'cheaper' places a lot (hostels/guesthouses), and the television in the room with many channels was a big surprise and really great. Neither one of us speaks Spanish,... More

we stayed at Ximena's Guest House for two nights. The rooms are basic, however the staff were very lovely and the accommodation is in a very safe and central part of the city. The owner was amazing and I highly recommend staying here because of her service and local knowledge. Lena gave us tips on where we could eat local... More
