Okay, it's a little expensive, but so is everything in Kiev. Sunflower is located in an extremely quiet courtyard, 100-150 meters from Independence Square. It really is a B&B with a nice breakfast delivered to your room each morning. I had a beautiful spacious room, and I believe it was typical. The staff couldn't have been more friendly and helpful... more

We stayed 2 nights in room #1 in june 2009.I agree with the comments of previous guests about size of room(large),central location and cleanliness.Breakfast was average ,coffee undrinkable,so stick to tea. Also an elevator is available, contrary to most statements. You have to seek help.Overall, compared to what's available in Kiev Sunflower is decent ..However its quite expensive at $168/night in a country,... more

Travellers generally rent private apartments in former Soviet countries because mid-range, Western-standard hotels are non-existent. I did my homework and found a true gem: Sunflower B&B Hotel [http://www.sunflowerhotel.kiev.ua/]. It is smack in the middle of town: Maidan Nezalezhnosti where the Orange Revolution took place some years ago. Without having to cross a street there is an underground shopping mall with... more

Sunflower B&B is not a hotel, don't forget this. Now I spent 3 nights in room n°1 and except the view, I can say that everything was ok. Very kind people + breakfast is ok. 1' away from Revolution Square and Krechatik. Price of room n°1 is maybe a bit expensive for what it is so maybe try another cheaper... more

When we researched Kyiv online, we did wonder if we'd picked badly for a long weekend. We could not have been more wrong. The city is a delight. It has the charm of 1990's Budapest before the influence of the Eurozone altered that forever. Kyiv is a city of beauty, life, fun and friendliness. This is epitomised by the Sunflower.... more

When looking for a hotel in Kiev we were shocked at how expensive it was to stay in the city which is why we elected to stay at the Sunflower B&B Hotel. Whilst not cheap, it delivers a good standard of accommodation in a central location. The Sunflower occupies a floor of an apartment block and you reach the entrance... more

As travel agents, we travel 8 weeks out of the year so we know what to recommend to clients - I know - poor us. This is our first time to Ukraine. We stayed at the Sunflower B&B for two nights - arriving the first night at 2am from the train station (the taxi was UAH 100 (about $20 USD)... more

Kiev was the first stop on a "family history" trip to other parts of the Ukraine. I was traveling with my husband and parents. I had never been to eastern Europe and don't speak Ukrainian or Russian. Poured over hotel reviews, trying to find a place that was clean, pleasant, well-located and reasonably priced, not smoked-filled or dusty. The Sunflower... more

This is a very comfortable and slightly eccentric B&B. I stayed there last week for five nights with my adult daughter who was working with me. I had Room 5 - the suite. She was in Room 4, a standard smaller room. Both rooms were very nice. Overall our trip was a great success but the Sunflower was did not... more
