Location just next to metro station, budget price for a budget room, cleaning, very friendly staff. Wi-fi in the rooms is working excellent. No sound isolation between rooms. Hotel Mir is typicall soviet style hotel.

I stayed in this hotel for 4 days and price was only about $200, very valuable and also right next to the metro station. Bathroom didn't have a bathtub and wifi was not working so perfectly.

In arranging for a business trip to Kiev, a Ukrainian colleague warned me that another American co-worker hated the Hotel Mir and wouldn't stay there. But it was cheap, close to where we were holding meetings and I've survived hotels in Africa and other former Communist countries. How bad could it be. The answer is not bad at all. The... More

This hotel is quite old fashioned but adequate. The eating arrangements are not user friendly, but the staff are willing. It is very close to the metro for easy access. The rooms were clean, but the furnishings tended to be shabby. The wifi worked most of the time.

I have stayed here on business 3 times, once in 2001, again in 2005, and again in 2011. Each time I was there for for 5 days, so I got to know it well enough. I would say that in that time, this hotel has certainly improved a lot. Back in 2001, it was a very Soviet-style experience, and western... More

I have been there for the second time (the first time was in 2006) and it was about business, again. It was still something about "communism era", however comparing my earlier business trip, there was no "etazhnaya" (the floor attandand lady who provided you with boiling water, if necessary) neither I was controlled for possessing the gun, when entering the... Of course, there are better hotels in Kiev, but they are too expensive. I think that Kiev is more expensive than any other European capital. The city center is 15 minutes away by taxi. The hotel is very clean and pleasant. Unfortunately, I did not use the breakfast and I can not write to you about its quality. There is... More

After booking with bookings.com( excellent as ever) we arrived to a warm welcome! Girl on reservationwho spoke English booked a room for a friend arriving the following day,£50 a night was quoted, that's fine. The next day she tried to charge my friend £120,she was very rude and abrupt and we cancelled my friend room! My stay was ok but bar... More

Although previous reviews made me doubt, I booked four nights at Mir and the hotel was about what I expected. Finding it and getting there later couldn't have been easier as there's a Metro station right by the hotel - a two-minute walk and 10 minutes to town. The area around the hotel is mainly residential, with a large road... More

Staying at the Mir Hotel one appears to move back into a 1950's Soviet movie. The hotel is basic, some of the rooms have the oddest colours, the elevator is simply astonishing, and the restaurant where one has breakfast resembles Moscow rail station. WIFI did not work once while I was there and no one was able to assist. The... More
