When I arrived at 00:45 in Kiev after a long train journey from Minsk, I was an easy prey for taxi drivers. I had made a reservation in a guesthouse somewhere, but the taxidriver (allegedly) was unable to find it. I was tired and understood only slowly that he was cheating me, but then I said: "bring me to whatever... More

Quite close to city center - 1 block away from Shevchenko square. Old soviet type building and hotel. Dirty carperts in the room, soviet era small and quite ugly toilet. My stay had been prebooked by the company I was working for. I guess it was very cheap. receptionist was very friendly and helpful. I had a single bed with en-suite that was comfortable enough, a TV, fridge, balcony and free wifi. Not recommended for a holiday, but for a one night low budget business trip it is bearable. Just.

The hotel is not bad, but it's not great. It's a bit run down and is still in an very old style where there is a reception desk on each floor, and a guy with a big hat who stands at the door, breakfast coupons printed in the 30s, no computers or internet, or vending machines, but a fax machine....
