The grey, Soviet-style, drab, concrete exterior of the Sport is a good indication of what lies within. On each floor there is another reminder of the past. The desks directly outside the elevators where the fearsome floor wardens (baboushkas) oversaw comings and goings are still there. However, the spirit of the Baboushkas lives on in Reception. After living and working in Kiev for several years, I've seen my fair share of hotels. Hotel Sport was an excellent location - right across from Ani Restaurant which is one of the best places for a meal in Kiev! The Hotel is fine. All hotels in Ukraine have tendency to be overpriced and this one is not an exception. However this one is not one of most expensive.
