Stayed at Ukraina Hotel for one night in November, while on business in the Kiev-area. Unfortunately a very Soviet-ish, no thrill experience. Got a huge, weird-smelling 3-room suite on the 9th floor with a very impressive panoramic view of the Independence Square. Unfortunately the view is more or less the only positive side of this hotel- together with its location!... more

After spending a week in Russia we had similar expectations for Kiev, but Ukraina was pretty good. We got a renovated room - spacious and although it definitely wasn't our taste, it was a good hotel room. The staff were very helpful, and spoke English - which we didn't expect at all. Brilliant location overlooking the square. more

My wife and I just returned from Ukraine and stayed 1 night. Our room was on the 11th floor overlooking Independence Square and we couldn't have been happier. Our room was a "junior suite" that had a very comfortable double bed and even a small balcony. The most important feature of the room (considering we went in July) was that... more

Previous reviews all seem fairly reliable but my own impression was less negative than some. Although there is indeed a (rotating?) "key lady" at every floor, the ones we saw were much less unfriendly than others we met in (more pricey) Moscow hotels. Getting a shy smile out of them did not take any huge effort. My bathroom was decent... more

The room was ok for size and had a great view over the square, it was reasobaly up to date and fairly clean. The hotel is being updated and so there is noise from builders and a strange diesel like odours on some floors. Some of the rooms I looked in were very old fashioned and group members mentioned poor... more

We went to Kiev for New Years Eve. Kiev is developing rapidly. Reviews and tips are likely out of date (including lonely planet). This includes reviews for this hotel. Hotel Ukraina has started to renovate its rooms, floors 6 and 7 are done, we booked a renovated room and were surprised, it's similar to Europe high standards. The location is... more

In short: * You can`t get a better location, as central as possible * Not recommended for allergics and astmathics. Bring your inhalator! The rooms has heavy curtains and carpets. Visible dust under closets * Ok bathroom * Ok staff, lack in english-knowledge, but polite * Unforgettable breakfasts. So diciplined, so structured and unbeliviable expensive! We arrived early morning, withouth... more

My husband and I stayed at the Ukraina for 2 nights following a stay at the Radisson in Kiev. The hotel is being remodeled right now and we were on a floor where they were installing new carpets. Our room was a junior suite with a separate very small bedroom. The bathroom had the minimal amenities and no hair dryer.... more

Well..as a matter of fact I am staying in this hotel right now..thanks God it is only one night. Past April I stayed in Dnipro Hotel and i must say it is so much better then Ukraine Hotel. The rooms are terrible with prehistoric furniture and it is freezing here as because most rooms do not have HEAT or A/C... more
