The InterContinental Bucharest is a landmark of the Romanian capital, the first five-star hotel in the city, built in 1971 and still the highest hotel building in town. The InterContinental Bucharest set the capital's five-star standards for many years after the opening. The most unique attraction of the hotel is the breath-taking views, overlooking the city, in its very heart. The Imperial Suite is the only one in Bucharest equipped with a personal sauna and its own grand piano. Spacious and elegantly decorated, our 283 rooms and suites exude a feeling of comfort and relaxation. In 2007 the hotel transitioned from the long-standing franchise agreement to a management contract with the InterContinental Hotels Group. more » « less

The InterContinental Bucharest is a very nice upscale hotel and it is within steps of the Metro, which makes getting around very easy. The rooms are fairly large and roomy and the climate controls worked very well, which was much appreciated in the summer. There was little noise coming from the hallway or other rooms and the bed was super... more

I stayed there for three nights on business recently. At about €150 per night, it represented excellent value. The location is very central, close to shops and restaurants (Burebista, part of a chain - within 200 metres of the hotel is very good, traditional Romanian food, bear, deer etc and a to die for desert Papanash). The room had everything... more

The two high points of the Hotel Intercontinental in Bucharest are its location - very central, close to the Metro and business destinations - and the stafff. Staff were helpful, knowledgeable and very friendly. The hotel itself was a bit mixed. The lobby was very nice, though I was put off by the restaurants, not because of the food (I... more

Walking distance to the fine arts museum and some great, inexpensive restaurants, this hotel had the best bed I have ever slept it. Very comfortable rooms, nice casino, wonderful very helpful concierge. more

I found this hotel very nice. I stayed in the 9th floor and i think this was newly redecorated. In the afternoon there was a card lying on the table telling me what kind of weather it would be the next day. I also received a newspaper under the door in the morning without asking for it. This was a... more

We stayed on business in January for 1 week. The hotel certainly has 5 star facilities but the Club Level, for which you pay a premium, is disappointing. The lounge has very little in terms of food throughout the day and the hotel do not advise you of the additional facilities the club level affords you such as free internet... more

Our flight out of Bucharest was cancelled due to major snowstorm and we could not leave the city for another 2 nights. My son had a Priority Points card and they offered us a very good deal at the Intercontinental. We ended up on the Club 11th floor in very plush rooms with use of the Club lounge with complimentary drinks... more

Well if you going to be in Buchrest this is the place to stay, even for one night, like we did during a pre extention of a Grand European River Cruise. After traveling 28 hours from our home in California it was nice to arrive at such a great hotel. The room was great and the bed, bath and showers... more

We had the same cheap points deal as the original poster, and I would classify it as an excellent deal. We had two stays here in August 2007. During the first stay, the temperature reached a high of 30C (87F) and on the second stay the temperature reached a high of 39C (102F). During both stays, the temperature in the... more
