“As” has always been one of the most famous (and expensive) fish restaurants in Zagreb. A few years ago, the owner added some hotel rooms.

Rooms at Hotel As are large, well appointed, comfortable and very quiet. Not much atmosphere, though.

The main point in deciding for or against this hotel is location. It’s about 5 minutes drive north of central Zagreb in one of the many valleys. Walking to/from the city center is not feasible and while there is supposed to be a public bus, I’ve never actually seen one. So a car is mandatory. In summer, it’s always a few degrees colder up here than in the steaming city. Hotel As is adjacent to a forest and the area is popular for walking and jogging – but beware of the dogs. Personally, I prefer places closer the downtown action.
