This hotel is an iconic structure built in 1925 as a luxurious layover for travellers on the Orient Express. A stately building which is a mixture of European styles : Baroque, Art Nouveau and Art Deco. Undoubtedly it represents a piece of history. Service, staff and location were all very good, however there are some aspects which would prevent Esplanade... More

Checked in early (9am) after an overnight train journey from Germany and was told that there would be an extra cost of 25 euros for this. That was fine. I found the room was a small single on the 1st floor overlooking a ventilation shaft/air conditioning vent. The air conditioning was not working and the area in the room was... More

I had a short stay 2 night stay at the hotel. It's beautiful. Very clean and with great service. Moving story: I had breakfast...I made myself salad and put on some dressing. I thought I was using balsamic but it was really soy sauce. The host saw that I didn't eat the salad so he asked what happened. I told... More

My decision to select this hotel were: 1.- Location; 2.- Parking; 3.- Luxury We were pleased with all of the above in this hotel. It does have its drawbacks, but hardly worth mentioning. We only stayed there 2 nights as a transit destination. However, I would have gladly stayed longer. The rooms were appointed in the old world style. They... More

We stayed three wonderful days at the Esplanade and were totally satisfied with our room, the food, the service, and the staff. The staff was friendly, efficient, and always ready to assist us. The hotel's decor does indeed evoke the splendor and graciousness of the days of the Orient Express. We ate breakfast every day in the dining room. The... More

Rooms, staff, service and location were all very good. The old-world elegance is still present in this historic hotel. The only problem in both rooms was the unbelievably small-size drawer space for clothes such as polo shirts, shorts, underwear, etc. I have never seen such short and narrow drawers anywhere. Breakfast is pricey at 25 euros for the selection offered.

The service was gracious; great breakfast offering with dining on an outdoor patio; Le Bistro is a great dining option for a casual lunch or dinner in a setting reminiscent of Paris. The hotel itself is in a historical building and quite attractive. A cab from the airport was efficient and relatively cheap. Interesting areas are an easy 5 to... More

Wonderful hotel. Made our honeymoon even most special and I would recommend this hotel to everyone. The restaurant was exceptional and our waiter was brilliant, very knowledgeable and attentive but not so that it took away from the experience.

The hotel is old world charming with understated luxury and located close to the city center and train station. The bed was supremely comfortable and I actually slept in and missed their world famous buffet breakfast. Everyone went out of their way to make my stay comfortable and to answer questions about transport. But the attention to detail was what... More
