The general thrust of the other reviews is correct. This is a decent hotel in a small European city with large, clean and comfortable rooms. It is well located for walking to the centre of Sofia. We didn't experience any of the difficulties getting taxis to and from the hotel mentioned in some reviews. The service was fine and helpful.... More

It's a dream hotel, where I can't find anything negative to tell you of ! Maybe the only thing is that the best restaurants (if you don't want to eat in the hotel) are not so close. The wellness center is overpriced and therefore we did not use it.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 4, 2011

We had thoroughly enjoyable stay, made even better by the fact that the hotel is in part built over the remains of a Roman amphitheater. Our room was spacious and clean with good amenities. Towels were puny, but that's a minor point, and one would think that a major tourist hotel would stock some sort of diet soda. Breakfast staff... More

Firstly, reception staff in this hotel were outstanding when a problem arose during our stay - although nothing do do with them they helped us immensely. Rooms - large and comfortable although a little dark. Restaurant - breakfast okay

We appreciated the excellent foyer with a view of the well- lit Roman amphitheatre below and the large bedroom with its very beautiful bathroom. It lacked some of the comforts, such as a second pillow and the duvet did not fully cover the extremely wide bed. As mentioned below there was no tea or coffee available in the room, though... More

I travel frequently to Sofia and always had problems in aidentifying a good hotel to stay in. All other 4* / 5* hotels are really not living to the expectations of their categories. Arena di Serdica is hidden from the the city buzz, but also 3-5 min walking distance from the action in the centre. The rooms are quite spacious... More

I've stayed at this hotel quite a few times and can sincerely recommend it to any and every purpose. Even thought my visits to Sofia have been business related, when returning to my hotel, I almost feel like being on a vacation. The atmosphere of the hotel in general is very relaxing - the decor in rooms happen to fit... More

We stayed in this hotel in November 2010 and had a really lovely stay. The name of the hotel is the original name of Sofia and is built over and around original foundations of ancient buildings. This makes a really spectacular entrance and lobby area. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful and the standard of decor and bedrooms was... More

I travel a lot on business and for pleasure and am used to luxury hotels so was a bit sceptical about the 5-star rating of the hotel in Bulgaria BUT this hotel was trully special: 1. I was having difficulties making reservations for opera and a visit to Riia monastery. The hotel manager has taken it upon herself to make... More
