Mediocre hotel, but well located midway between the railway station and the historic heart of Sofia -- both areas within walking distance of the hotel. We stayed at the Lion Hotel for 2 nights in May 08. It is reasonably well located, within walking distance of the city centre, a large open air market and the main coach/rail station which has international and regional connections. I wouldn't be writing this review if the 'coffee' and the 'orange juice' weren't so bad. Hotel Lion, is a great option if you're looking for cheap, basic accommodation. I went there on a stag do, the rooms were comfortable but basic. Good things: You get a good room, not big, but ok. Shower might miss a curtain, but it was very clean. Bed also was not the wooden matrass I feared, but really nice and comfy.
