The personel was far away from what we call gentle. In breacfast time nobody of personel cleaned the tables. So i had to pic up the used plates from the table to make room to have my breacfast. The rooms was old and the windows didnt close hermeticaly so the outside air made a terible noise. The diner was below... more

This is a very large hotel in a pretty central location. It has a nice swimming pool (recently renovated) and pool bar. It also has a casino, a roof top piano bar with very good views (expensive for Sofia) and a strip club (ladies also welcome :-). Rooms are basic with bath/shower, small table and heavy armchairs. Beds are large.... more

In the old days, the Hotel Rodina was apparently one of the smartest hotels in Communist Bulgaria and a favourite of visiting Eastern European dignitaries. It hasn't changed all that much which means it's now pretty faded and the uniform brown colour of everything can be depressing. On the other hand, get a room near the top (there's 21 stories)... more

As with many Bulgarian hotels claiming to be four stars, this one definitely falls short of the mark. Because of a mix up with our reservation, our original hotel sent us here. Thankfully it was only for one short night and half price (40 Euros) From the outside the huge monolith looks promising but as you enter through the revolving... more

This hotel has a good location - it is about 2 kilometers to the cathedral and there is a large mall nearby with a hypermarket. The rooms have been slightly updated and has the necessary business amenities - business center, internet access for a fee, cable TV, mini refrigerator. The beds are small and soft and a bit low to... more

Was absoluteley disgusted by this hotel. I had a glass of white wine which was off and a funny orange colour. The receptionist demanded that I paid for the wine and when I refused she said that I should be ashamed coming to Bulgaria and refusing to pay for a drink. She then proceeded to shout abuse at me and... more

Rude staff, Dull dated and dirty rooms (available by the hour with or without an 'extra pillow') lobby full of ladies with clients and security staff for the dodgy casino and pawn shop attached to the hotel. Do not check into this hotel - although they didnt seem surprised that I didnt want to stay after seeing my room. The... more

Just came back from Sofia on business, and had to stay at the Rodina Hotel as this was organised for me. This was a really poor hotel, only the rooms on floor 8 and 9 have been renovated and are actually worth 3 stars Western standards. I was on 12th floor, "deluxe" room which made me wonder what the standard... more
