this is the less impressive hotel from starwood luxury collection I visited till now. On the website looks much grander and luxurious than it is. Especially the public places. Additionaly restaurant was closed during our stay so the bar. Staff members do not show any excitement of working for this brand/at this hotel. In the other hand the junior suite... more
The writers of the previous two reviews had this place nailed. It's a good hotel in a good location and the price of the room wasn't too bad, But the staff is unhelpful, giving desultory or even incorrect information. Most important though: don't buy anything from the hotel. Everything is terribly expensive -- breakfast, drinks in the bar and the... more
The Sheraton shares a complex with the Presidential Palace, and it is the hotel used by foreign dignitaries. It is grand and opulent, and it's worth walking into the lobby and imagining which communist leaders have been there. The airport pick-up was great, and we found ourselves in a beautiful car. Other service was, however, sullen to say the least... more
The good: excellent location, grand old building which also hosts the Bulgarian presidency. Large comfortable rooms and bathrooms, great beds and furnishings, EUR120 per night. The bad: poor hot water pressure/quality, poor TV/Wifi systems (unusable periodically). The ugly: the worldś most expensive breakfast (50 euros) and minibar (11 euros for a small bottle of local beer). Therefore, do not touch... more
Due to my Platinum Starwood Card I always get an upgrade to a very nice and newly renovated Junior Suite. The service is great, the lounge well equipped. I tried Hilton, Kempinski and SAS - so I can say that the Sheraton is really the No. 1 in Sofia. more
Spent three nights at this hotel in mid-April and my overall feeling was that it was OK, but I was left a little disappointed as I expected more given it is a Sheraton Luxury Collection hotel. Check in was OK, although there was no upgrade even though my partner is a Sheraton hotels gold card holder and front desk service... more
As always, the Good, Bad and Ugly: The Good 1. Airport car service. Instead of taking a cab and paying about 10 Euro, the hotel will have someone waiting for you at arrival driving a higher-end car for about the same price. With the downtown traffic always busy I enjoy riding in a nice, clean, safe car. Each time the... more
The hotel is housed in an old building in the centre of town. The lobby looks grander in the pictures, in real life it is not so elegant and a bit tacky. Staff were reasonably friendly and helpful throughout my stay. One exception was the sullen lady who handled my check-out and was reluctant to call me a taxi from... more
I spent 3 nights at the Sheraton Sofia. I was with a tour group of 37 people. Upon check in the front desk gave my room to another member of our group by mistake. Turned out that room was on the first floor and it was a nice very big room. I had to wait about 30 minutes for them... more
