The Holiday Inn in Sarajevo is a step back in time to the 1984 Winter Olympics, down to the branded crockery and cutlery in the dining rooms. However, the front desk staff went out of their way to be helpful after my family and I had been turned away from the nearby Hecco, when it turned out the accommodation we... more

I frequently travel to Sarajevo for work and stayed in this hotel the first 3-5 times - before I finally realized there are much better options out there. The hotel has a nice lobby and structure but the rooms are in desperate need of a serious rennovation. Almost every room I stayed in had a broken closet, for example, and... more

Having looked at the other options in Sarajevo the Holiday Inn ended up winning on location due to its proximity to the train station and the airport and the good deal on the Holiday Inn website. Having stayed in small/boutique hotels for the rest of our trip round the Balkans it felt a bit odd walking into a big slab... more

After reading bad reviews about this hotel, I was apprehensive about staying there but was on a tour so could not change. I was pleasantly surprised by the interior and the rooms. The outside of the hotel is a bright yellow and really outdated but don't be put off. The staff were friendly and the dinner and breakfast OK. The... more

I stayed at the Holiday Inn, Sarajevo over Easter 2008. What a dump. The hotel has it's better days well behind it, and really needs to be totally bulldozed and rebuilt. It is sad to it display it's Olympic past (including OLD dishes in the restaurant with the olympic logo), but these are distant memories. Negatives: reception and door staff... more

Stayed at The Holiday Inn in Sarajevo for a week. We were not sure what to expect initially, reviews were a little harsh.. The hotel was one of the only functioning hotels during the seige of Sarajevo. (initially built for the 1984 Winter Olympics).. If you do some research you will find out it hosted all the journalists in the... more

I stayed for one night 4 December 2007. My flight back to London was cancelled because of fog. I asked British Airways to put me into the Holiday Inn where I had eaten twice during my fortnight in the city. I think some of the earlier Trip Advisor reports may be a touch harsh. Eight years ago locals said the... more

Okay, it has pretensions which are not really met. It thinks it's more luxurious than it really is. But it is comfortable and not TOO far (though not as close as you'd really like) from the old town. The museum is opposite, and the tram runs by outside (along with a lot of other traffic). You do get a view... more

First of all, the Holiday Inn needs to do something about that ugly yellow facade. Apparently the hotel was mercilessly pummelled by the Serbs during the war and was turned into Swiss cheese. (We heard that the first shots of the war were fired from this hotel. It is unfortunate that later renovations could not have been better designed to... more

Can't say that I liked this hotel. There is nothing special or bad about it. It is fairly old, the rooms are OK. I was unpleasantly surprised three times when I could not find the things that were prominently listed on hotel's website: fitness club was closed, there was no ironing board or iron in the room, and they do... more
