We were able to walk to the ferry, cruise ship, and roulettes, as well as do any shopping. We spent one night in a harbor front and one in back room on return. Very basic but air conditioning and TV. Be aware that you will be charged for local calls. No blackout curtains so don't plan to sleep in and... More

We were looking for a simple, unpretentious three-star hotel in Papeete town, close to everything and inexpensive. We were very pleased with this hotel. The staff are very friendly and speak good French and English. We disembarked from our cruise ship and walked to the hotel in five minutes, easily wheeling our luggage behind us. The place is on the... More

Stayed here one night before a Tahiti cruise. Basic hotel but clean and comfortable. Try for a room overlooking the harbour - well worth the extra dollars. There are many restaurants within walking distance. It was nice to watch our cruise ship arrive in port and know that in a few hours we would be on board.

We stayed here for 2 nights. It was clean, everything worked and it was very handy to the downtown and the ferry terminal. And in walking distance of the market. The food trucks for evening and late night dining are also very close. I saw someone else describe it as a "roach palace" - I think this is unfair, it... More

Papeete is not a holiday resort so this hotel was very basic very dated but clean. It was a good price and in the heart of the town which is where you want to be. After staying in Bora Bora however it was a big down.

Face it! You're not going to Tahiti for Papeete. It is just a gateway. So save your bucks and go to this hotel where they'll treat you well and feed you well until you board your flight to Bora Bora or to a cruise. We'll always stay here because we are downtown and then close to the airport or the... More

Hotel Tiare Tahiti is not a resort destination, but a convenient base camp for island hopping in French Polynesia. Good price and good location in the central part of town, walking distance to the cruise ship pier and ferry terminal, next door to the post office, lots of restaurants and bars nearby (I recommend the Alsatian brewery Les Trois Brasseurs),... All central hotels in Papeete are old,Tiare being the cleanest and best located (10 min to PPT) for exploring Papeete on foot, which you can do in several hours. Restaurants, shops, food trucks very closeby. Fifteen minute walk to ferry w/wheeled suitcases. #405 corner top floor has floor to ceiling windows with ocean and park views from huge tiled lanai,... We were recommended hotel by a local so thought we and our friends would save a bit of money and stay here rather than some of the other more expensive Papeete hotels for our 2 night stop over before heading off to moorea. We were pleasantly surprised as it was clean older hotel where we had a super view of... More

We needed a place after arriving at night, and Tiare Tahiti Hotel gave us a decent rate, having looked at some other places in the area, who wanted much more money for even less of an offering. The woman working the desk that night was friendly and helpful. The location of the hotel is ideal for visiting the roulottes (Food... More
