We spent 11 nights at this hotel: half that time would have been ample. It is expensive by UK prices, but probably not by Tahitien standards. When we arrived (at night) no help was offered with our luggage - the burly security guard concentrated on holding the torch - but luckily we were on the ground floor. The rooms are... more
Me and my wife stopped here before and after our cruise around french polynesia, its an old hotel with some little problems. Beds and bath are cleaned but sometimes i've found some bugs in the room. Breakfast is not inculded but u can make tea or coffe in the room, if u want to make yr breakfast u have a... more
By normal standards this would be an average to poor hotel, but in Tahiti it is something of a bargain. First the good; Price 2nights including tax £167,meals extra seem expensive but given that 70% of the diners were local must be good value Gardens/Situation,beautiful views accross the sea and lovely well cared for grounds.Nice pool . Staff,Yasmina is a gem... more
We loved it here and hated to leave. If you are looking for the Ritz treatment and pampering, go elsewhere, but if you are looking to have a real encounter with local Tahitians, this is the spot. Rooms are not fancy, but are clean and everything works. Well located on a black beach (where outrigger races are held offshore at... more
We arrived at the Royal Tahitian late in the evening but the reception staff were welcoming and helpful. A porter took our bags to the room. The setting is attractive and we enjoyed our stay. We were relieved, having read some negative reviews of the place. But we were surprised by the amount of traffic on the road at 6.30am.... more
This is a great place if you are on a budget and still want everything you imagined you wanted in Tahiti: a pool, beachfront, good food, a bar with live entertainment, and clean accommodations. You will be satisfied with what you get, considering the prices of other options in Tahiti. To top it off, the staff at this hotel are... more
We just returned from a trip to Easter Island and French Polynesia and our experience was great overall. The only bad experience was at the Royal Tahitian in Papeete. We arrived late in the evening and the check-in staff were surly and unhelpful. they gave us our room keys and said a guy outside would help us there. He was... more
The hotel is old and decadent. Funny smell when entering the room, only at the third room we found a properly working bathtub. No TV but they brought us one on request (no remote, too modern for this hotel), room not properly cleaned, carpet thorned appart. Reception service ok but failled to borrow us a umbrella to go to our room... more
We spent New Years Eve 2005 and several days thereafter at the Royal Tahitien and we loved it. We then returned for a couple of days, at the end of our holiday, after we had been island hopping. Everything about it was gorgeous. The expansive grounds covered in lush tropical plants with the lily pad covered stream running through it.... more
