For those who want a South Seas alternative to a bungalow over the water, try the Pearl Lodge in Nuku Hiva, Marquesas Islands. The tours are what makes this place special: the lush valley where Herman Melville was inspired to write "Typee" or the idyllic bay that charmed Robert Louis Stevenson. And you won't find finer accommodations in Nuku Hiva... More

Very nice place with fantastic view of the bay. People are very nice and friendly. Nathalie, the hotel manager is very friendly and talks to everybody. Makes the guests feel very at home. However, the service at the restaurant wss very slow. It took us more than hour to have our meal got served one evening. And there is always... More

Lovely hotel on slope overlooking the bay. Rooms large and attractive in local style. A large and spacious balcony. Food is of a good quality if a little pricey. Pool is small but at least it is cooling and pleasant to sit by. Well kept gardens with tropical flowers. Not many guests. Reception staff very helpful and accommodating. Only place... More

The Keikahanui Lodge is a very well run and maintained hotel with beautiful views of the bay below, and well-organized to help you take the best excursions on the island. They're also very flexible, and helped us change our excursions last-minute based on the weather conditions (which changed quickly and frequently). If you visit the Marquesas islands, you can't miss... More

We just got home after spending two fabulous days in this small, "treehouse" paradise! We went there with our 10 year old daughter. I have wanted to visit the Marquesas for years, and I wasn't disappointed. The island is truly breathtaking and one of the most beautiful places I have ever been on the planet. The Pearl Lodge was absolutely... More

We spent five days at the Pearl Lodge on Nuku Hiva and felt the experience was very similar to the Pearl Lodge on Hiva Oa. It is a well run resort with very good food and a nice pool with a fantastic view of the entire bay. If you visit this island, this is definitely the place to stay. The... More

Quite a long walk to our bungalow (which was exactly the same decor and layout as the Hanakee Pearl Lodge on Hiva Oa) through lush, beautiful gardens. Sweeping view from the room and our deck over the bay and mountains. Sound of the sea below, and birdsong from the garden. The food was fine, but enormous portions (as we found... More

Don`t miss the Marquesas if you are visiting French Polynesia, they are spectacular and unlike the Society Islands only have some 5,000 tourists a year so are very unspoilt. We spent 5 days at this hotel and wished we had booked for a full week. Being located above the main bay, it is ideally located for a pleasant walk round... More

This was second hotel of our 3.5 wk honeymoon. Rooms are good (not very big), service is a variation. Pool is small. Only had breakfast or pool-snack there, did eat out in village (Moana Nui, 15minute walk). Bay view rooms, perfect view of the area. Flowers everywhere. Hotel adds 50% on excursions, so better book directly with a guide. Internet... More
