The sky looked like it might meet the water and our much anticipated trip out to Moon Reef was briefly threatened. This is the only place in the world where Dolphins are known to meet and spend the day resting, playing and socializing and preparing for the next nights hunting. We rose early to drive to Takalana retreat from Voli... More

We stayed at Takalana Lodge as part of a 4 wheel drive adventure around Viti Levu. We have lived in Fiji for over 14 years and can honestly rate Takalana's location as one of stunning beauty. Visitors are totally off the beaten track here so a sense of adventure is a must. It's wild remoteness is part of the attraction.... More

What a wonderful stay. The view, the food, the activities. Come here to enjoy the adventure and relaxation. The perfect escape to enjoy if you want to get away for a couple of days or are simply passing by.

The property was beautiful however, when we arrived, we were shown to our room which was the larger of the two located opposite the communal dinning area. We stood there stunned as the complete lack of "any" privacy dawned upon us. The dining area directly looks into the rooms and bed from a distance of about 5 metres. There are... More

I live in Fiji so I'm not expecting a 4 star resort from an ecolodge, but this place was disappointing compared to the rave reviews it got here. Sure, it's economical since meals are included, but the drawbacks include: 1) the beach not easily accessible- it's a 5 minute walk down (and then back up when you return to your... More

This is an amazing place! The people are so friendly and the accommodations are incredible. It was the best family trip we have ever had. The food was delicious and the Fijian people went out of their way to make sure we were taken well care of. The dolphins are right outside the door and the waterfalls are also easily... More

I was in Fiji on business (non-profit cooperation), and after a busy week meeting with many people and groups, our small group of six ended our stay with a weekend at Takalana Bay. As so many reviewers noted, you will not find friendlier, more gracious hosts anywhere. The food was wonderful, the boat trip for dolphin-watching and snorkeling was terrific... More

Our family aren't 5-star resort types. We look for places where there's either no-one else... or hardly anyone else. Takalana is tiny (2 bures right now, another 2 open soon), family oriented, lovely people, lovely food. For my kids (10, 12, 17) the highlight was the boat-trip out to the dolphins - for me it was a 40 minute walk... More

Getting to Takalana was an adventure in itself. Takalana is in a remote part of Viti Levu and the last 15 or so kilometers is on a gravel road (I am glad we hired a 4x4) It took us 2hrs and 10mins from the Novotel Suva but we did not rush and stopped along the way. Nestled into the side... More

The two days we had at Takalana Bay Retreat were supposed to have been the highlight of our two weeks in the Pacific. This was the one place I had insisted we go. What could be better than to see the dolphins and stay at a relaxed place with such raving reviews. We arrived early evening on the last day... More
