The Takalana Bay Retreat is a well kept secret in the island of Viti Levu. Jay and his family welcome guests as if they were family so you can feel right at home. The property is family owned and run by the local community so you get to experience the real fijian rural life, learn about the culture, interact with... More

After a 1 & 1/2 hour drive from Suva to get to Takalana we were pleasantly surprised by the scenery. We were a group of 10 people so we pretty much had the place to ourselves. We went dolphin watching which was great and had a swim in the bay, swimming with the dolphins is prohibited. Two of the group... More

Spent an amazing day at the Takalana Bay Retreat. Started with a boat ride to Moon Reef, watched some stunning dolphins that were showing off most of the time, had awesome hospitality from the locals that had prepared amazing lovo for lunch, then off to take a relaxing dip in the waterfalls. An day well spent. An opportunity NEVER to... More

The sky looked like it might meet the water and our much anticipated trip out to Moon Reef was briefly threatened. This is the only place in the world where Dolphins are known to meet and spend the day resting, playing and socializing and preparing for the next nights hunting. We rose early to drive to Takalana retreat from Voli... More

We stayed at Takalana Lodge as part of a 4 wheel drive adventure around Viti Levu. We have lived in Fiji for over 14 years and can honestly rate Takalana's location as one of stunning beauty. Visitors are totally off the beaten track here so a sense of adventure is a must. It's wild remoteness is part of the attraction.... More

The property was beautiful however, when we arrived, we were shown to our room which was the larger of the two located opposite the communal dinning area. We stood there stunned as the complete lack of "any" privacy dawned upon us. The dining area directly looks into the rooms and bed from a distance of about 5 metres. There are... More

I live in Fiji so I'm not expecting a 4 star resort from an ecolodge, but this place was disappointing compared to the rave reviews it got here. Sure, it's economical since meals are included, but the drawbacks include: 1) the beach not easily accessible- it's a 5 minute walk down (and then back up when you return to your... More

This is an amazing place! The people are so friendly and the accommodations are incredible. It was the best family trip we have ever had. The food was delicious and the Fijian people went out of their way to make sure we were taken well care of. The dolphins are right outside the door and the waterfalls are also easily... More
