We stayed at the Hotel Palacio for slightly more than two weeks on business. The hotel was centrally-located in the Ciudad Vieja in between Plaza Constitution and Plaza Independencia. I loved the Palacio. The friendliest staff I have ever encountered, and one of the largest most comfortable rooms I have had outside the US. The location is great--a block off the main square and a nice walk to the port and market. The building and the rooms have tremendous character--this was a grand hotel. more

This place is old, but has lots of character. The staff were seriously the nicest, most accommodating people I've ever encountered at a hotel! We booked a triple and were upgraded to a double/single suite. The double was a little cramped but had a balcony, and the other bedroom and bathroom were spacious. Ideal for budget travelers! more

Very reasonable priced for a Hotel right in the middle of downtown Montevideo. It is located at walking distance from restaurants, bars, pubs, nightclubs, museums, and the historic district. The staff was exceptionally helpful and polite. The room was very clean and the decoration matches the early 20th century architecture of the building. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!! more
