With great pleasure, allow me to be the first to give Hotel Palacio a ¨Terrible¨ review. I am actually writing this from their complementary internet-connected computer after a night of absolutely no sleep. Once my wife gets out of bed, we are leaving early, after only 1 night of our 2 night reservation. And without paying, too! We arrived here... more

This was very good value for very little money--right in the heart of the historic district. The staff was very helpful and obliging to meet our needs. more

Our stay at the Palacio was a highlight of our visit to Montevideo. Every staff member was helpful and accommodating. By the end of our stay we felt like family. The upgrade to the room on the 6th floor was worth every penny. Charming, clean, and simple room. Great balcony. more

We stayed here for two nights. Our 'superior' room on the 6th floor was old and basic but it was clean and comfortable, and it had a massive balcony. The location of the hotel is perfect, right in the centre of things. The people who run this place are fantastic, apart from one cleaning lady, everyone else was very friendly,... more

Lovely hotel, so much value for money. the rooms were basic and old but spotlessly clean. the staff did not speak much english but went out of their way to accomodate our needs and help us enjoy Montevideo. Excellent location in town, but our room on the 6th floor was still quiet. more

A great find this was. Really beautiful old hotel. Staff were extremely lovely and very helpful. None spoke any english but if you know a few spanish words it was easy enough to work it out. The hotel is in a fantastic location, on the main street with all the restaurants and bars. Don´t let this scare you away if... more

My wife and I (and our 4 month old son) traveled to Montevideo and stayed at the Hotel Palacio. We loved it-- the room, although not large, was large enough. The brass bed was comfortable, and the bathroom spotless and spacious. The view of the city from the balcony was terrific. The staff was very friendly and cooed over our... more

Stayed for one night in superior room. Weather not great so balcony didn't get much use. Room was ok but bathroom had no shower curtain. The heating wasn't up to much but the bed had plenty of blankets. Good location in the centre of town and a nice lift. more

Charming little hotel in the heart of Montevideo. Rooms decorated with lovely antique furniture but modern bathrooms. Location couldn't have been more perfect. There are no amenities but the friendliness of the staff makes up for the lack of frills. I strongly recommend it for the low-budget, no-frills traveller. more

We stayed at the Hotel del Palacio after reading a few good reviews on trip advisor. the Hotel is ideally located at the edde of the Old town and a couple of minutes walk from Plaza de independencia.
