Great value for money. Most probably the best quality you can get for this rate in Montevideo (around USD 50 prpn). Central location. Depending on the room you get, the bathroom can be too small or of a disconcerting layout (almost triangular or corridor-like showers, forehead-almost-in-sink toilets). Nothing to worry about unless you have special needs, so ask them to... More

We booked this hotel for a great price, and it was in the central area of Montevideo. It is a clean, decent hotel for the price. The room is very basic with a bed, nightstands, and a TV. It also had WIFI in the room. That is it, so don't expect a whole lot from this property. But, if you... More

Overall a very disappointing stay. Positive: location and price. Rooms: ok. Breakfast: weak Negative: They have been reforming the hotel for 2! years now, with noise and limitation on some floors. Stayed for a combined leasure and business trip so very dependent on wifi connection. Unfortunately during 4 days the internet didn't work! Full of excuses that they would fix... More

I'm a Uruguayan citizen born abroad and decided to visit my country. I stayed at Hotel America for 6 nights and decided to do so because of its location and the few good comments I had read about it. But boy, what I found out at the end of 6 days made me never want to stay in this hotel... More

If you want to use the internet at all, DO NOT stay here! They should not be allowed to say they have wifi! We also came back to our room after 4pm two days running and the cleaners had not yet finished. There was construction going on so the stairs could not be used on the first two floors. The... More

As always, travleing through the continent is always hard and tiring. The last thing you want to hear when you arrive after a 12 hours flight at 3am is: "Sorry sir ,our check-in time is at 2pm". Awful, awful first liner. I know hotel policies, I think a great hotel has the decency to check their guests information. If a... More

In Uruguay there is no tourist hotel tax! Substantial discount for using credit card at restaurants, better than cash. Old and dated. Location next to Av 18 de Julio, banks and restaurants. Tango-like dancing at dusk every night in closet park to hotel on 18 de Julio. 10 minutes walk to Independence square, Theater Solon, and Old Town. 60% front... More

Comfortable beds, great showers and good location however the rooms were incredibly noisy. The windows are not airtight so rooms facing the very busy main road below are so noisy, do not expect a good nights sleep! Basic breakfast which was okay.

This hotel is located just off the main street in the centre of town. The staff is friendly , helpful and speaks english well. The roos average size and clean . Breakfast a bit of a crowded affair as the breakfast room quite small but breakfast was good.

It's centrally located, the room was clean and it had a parking garage (1 block away), where we left the car while walking around during the day. After the simple but nice breakfast, we went to Avenida 18 de Julio (just on the corner), and from there you can walk to the Mercado Viejo, a must see. Would definitely stay... More
